Hi AJ, thanks for sharing your road to becoming a SE. I’m currently completing a fullstack SE coding bootcamp and I’ll be done next month! I’ve been a registered nurse the last few years and got burned out unfortunately, so chose this field. I’ve really been enjoying your videos.

Hey AJ, I'm so glad you made this video because I was a ceruse of know-how in Walmart IT, especially in Roston, VA. Since I’m pursuing my bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity and have applied for some jobs at Walmart, I want your opinion on the hiring process and whether you like working as a developer for Walmart.

Hey Abdul, I enjoy working for Walmart! The hiring process was like a Tier 2-3 Tech company hiring process with an OA, take home project + interview explaining your project, and final interview being technical + behavioral interview. As I’ve been working for Walmart for 1.5 years now I’d say the culture is fitting to me and in terms of the work you do and the environment is relative to your team!

AJ, would you shoot me a PM, I am beginning a journey into walmart SWE, although through the Workday integrations angle, would love to hear any interview tips or even use cases of workday you run into throughout your development.

Is it still worth it to become a software engineer? I have been a registered nurse for 10 years, but my first love has been tech. But you know asian (filipino) parents, they want you to be in medical field. With all the layoffs in tech, should I still go do a coding bootcamp? Tysm for your input love your videos man

Hey JV, if you can put your best effort to learn how to code then I’d say go for it. I know a lot of people go into coding bootcamps expecting that they’ll get a job just bc they do it. In reality, it’s a lot of work and a lot of materials to cram in. There are a lot of layoffs, but that’s only in big tech. Also, there are still a lot of other companies that aren’t “big tech” that are still busy hiring so I’d say don’t limit yourself to just the big dogs.

same here. switching from medical field! I might try tech again soon. We already have SPARTA courses in the PH (you can enroll for free) but I haven't been able to finish it because I got accepted into a Marketing job.

It's normal for Asians to live with family. Plus, it's financially smart cause we save money by doing it and have our mother's delicious food.
