That video actually inspired me to consider moving to TX as well, it’s the closest major tech hub to me (I live in AR). From your experience, how is life in Houston as a software engineer overall (job opportunities, COL, safety, etc)?

This NerdWallet comparison tool is good www.nerdwallet.com/cost-of-living-calculator/compare/houston-tx-vs-austin-tx. As far as Houston, I would say it's medium COL, definitely not like NY, LA, or SF. But the pay is slightly lower, so it really depends! It seems like there's ongoing growth into tech here (historically energy company driven). I notice the growing number of tech meetups, and investments from Rice University to try to establish what they call the "Houston Innovation District". feel free to PM me if you want to chat more :)
