Hi molly!! I’m 16 and have wanted to be a EMT/Paramedic since I was 7... I have basically watched all videos regarding medicine haha. I love all your post about the topic. I can’t wait to start on this career. Already studying for the last 3 years now and taking a public safety 2 year class before college!!

First off, congratulations for giving up your time to work in EMS. Can I ask how small your "very small town" is, and what is the role of an EMT-B? I'm in Australia where even small towns are crewed only by full-time paramedics (actually you have to have a Degree in Paramedicine to work on an emergency ambulance, so technically somebody at EMT level can't get employment). Your 24-hour shifts are very intriguing. In the large cities here, we do 12-hour shifts and get never get time to stop for a meal or even FOT. When I did a few years in a small outback town we only did 8-hour shifts and took an ambulance home to work on call overnight and on weekends. Best wishes with your studies, and keep up the great work.

Hello Molly, I appreciate this video because 2 night's ago, I was a pedestrian who helped 2 victims in a drunk driving accident. My family asked me how I handled the situation and asked how I felt. They recognized what I said and knowing about my calm nature, they suggested looking into an EMT -B course. I'm 37, looking for my calling and working E-commerce in retail and grocery has been my source of income since 2014. I would appreciate your feedback 🙂. Take care, be safe and thank you for your service 👍

@nate3452 Жыл бұрын
I know this comment is 7 months at this point, but I wanted to say just do it!! Look up EMT classes in your area - community colleges offer somewhat affordable classes and you can usually do payment plans with any educational institution. Take those classes, pass the NREMT and youre set! Itll be difficult, but it sounds like this is something you could be really good at. Many people are capable! Less are willing! Be willing!

I am currently an EMT student and bought a macbook air. Do you fond using an ipad easier and more functional for an EMT?
@mollylewis15173 жыл бұрын
I personally love having the iPad because I do believe it makes things easier! I love knowing that I can have all my notes, power-points, lectures, etc., all together in one spot. However, I still use my MacBook a lot for more lengthier assignments. It really just depends on the person, so I’d suggest doing some research to really see what is best for you and your learning styles :) ~hope this helped!

The Walmart boots she’s wearing are actually really nice. I’ve worked hospital security for a while and noticed a lot of other officers and medics wearing them. The cheapest ones are like $29 and last about a year, and they’re plenty comfortable.

@leslie75022 жыл бұрын
To be considered part time you have to work less than 30 hours a week- and most ambulance companies have you work 8 hr shifts minimum. So no, you can’t be considered part time if you work everyday- unless the company you work for allows for 4 hr shifts which is highly unlikely
