I've been an insurance agent for the last 6 years and i just quit my job a few weeks ago because of how stressful the environment was. My mental health was at its lowest. taking a break and then hopefully getting back out in the insurance industry. watching this video made me realize how valuable and efficient i am.

I'm currently a real estate agent (started in January), and thinking about trying to join Aflac because real estate has been a little of a slow start for me. Do you typically work from home or do you have to be present in an office all day? Also: since I'm already a realtor, I was thinking of doing insurance to help my clients on multiple levels, do you think that's a smart idea?

I’ve been approached by tons and tons and tons of insurance agents about getting into insurance. I’ve been skeptical about getting into it. How can I get mentored by you? Seriously! Through all your videos I’ve finally received more assurance that it would be a great path to take. Honestly I’m 31, got a degree in acting and have been just serving tables for a living but I really want to get out of it and into something more meaningful. Like helping people with health and life insurance so they don’t have to walk life in fear anymore. I live in Tempe Arizona. Any first step recommendations? Or how I can learn from you that go beyond just watching your awesome videos

How do you deal with people looking for The cheapest insurance possible? You mentioned savings people Thousands of dollars but what is the difference between going to a broker and buying cheap insurance online.
@ErinNogueira
@ErinNogueira 3 жыл бұрын
My primary focus is educating my clients on their coverages. If a referral chooses a cheaper option with worse coverage than I provided then that is on them and they lose me as their agent. 9/10 times these same referrals come back to me after having a terrible experience with the carrier they decided to go with. When you sign up with geico (for example) you are picking your own coverages and essentially insuring yourself. I am licensed and take CE to make sure I am well educated to insure my clients properly.

So when you sell premiums how much do you get paid she said she sold 75,000 dollars in a month how much is that for a check
@ErinNogueira
@ErinNogueira 2 жыл бұрын
I don’t sell premium, I sell policy’s. I write with over a dozen carriers and every carrier has a different agency commission. My agency then pays me 40% or 60% of that depending on carrier I wrote the business with. There is never a cookie cutter or standard amount when in this line of sales.
@favdancer01
@favdancer01 2 жыл бұрын
@@ErinNogueira so if you make 50% commission for example that means you made around 6 k your first month since you said you sold 12 k? or is the commission from a different number
@ErinNogueira
@ErinNogueira 2 жыл бұрын
I don’t write with only one carrier so the commission structure isn’t that simple, it’s different for every carrier & every line of business. Commission works like this… premium ($1200) x agency commission (22%) = $264 $264 x agent commission (60%) = $158.40 commission

Thank you for this video. I have a question, because I may be confused. Do you find the insurance for the client or does your company provide insurance? And if you find it for them, do you have to have any interactions with the clients once they get insurance, or do they only communicate with the insurance company? I hope this makes sense. 😊
@Harmonicaoscillator
@Harmonicaoscillator 3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, I'm not Erin but I am an insurance agent, let me try and answer the question for you: Most independent agencies have advertisement systems where you put in your information knowingly inquiring someone from the agency to contact you (this is true of almost all types of insurance, but especially true in home, auto, life, and health). They'll contact you and get some information from you (dependent on the type of insurance) so that they know what you're eligible for and how your premium might be rated (meaning how much you'll pay for the policy dependent on how high of a risk you're deemed to be). It is then the insurance agent's job to use the information you've provided to scour through their carriers (meaning the companies that actually provide insurance policies) to see which policy fits your needs and your underwriting information the best. At this point, all that's left is to sell the individual the policy and submit the application to the insurance carriers. You'll hear back from your agent regarding your approval (or denial) and how much you owe, etc.. After this, you're pretty much good! You just have to pay your premium with whatever consistency you and the agent agreed on during your conversation (either in home, or, increasingly often, remote conversations) and you're fine. After this happens, you (the agent) usually contact your existing clients however often you deem fit (although I'd say it's probably best to AT LEAST reach out once per year to review the plan and make sure it's still working for the client). Through this, you make sure that the policy works (they don't want to add anything or subtract anything from the policy in terms of riders or ancillaries, fancy terms for 'extra perks' your policy may provide you) and you build credibility with your clients. This establishes you as reliable, credible, etc. and also gives you a chance to cross-sell or get new names from clients who suggest their friends/family to you (since they trust you to be such a great, thorough, and caring agent). I hope this helps!

I think I'm confused did I click on a video requesting to purchase life insurance? Because I'm pretty sure I looked up A-day in the life of a life insurance agent And that's what this video was about I thought. I don't know why you're trying to explain to us how to go to some website to purchase life insurance or for more information about it. Unsolicited note time 👈🏼 99.9% of us watching your video are Licensed life insurance agents, Or soon to be. We don't want life insurance, we want to know what it's like to sell life insurance, those are the type of people that are watching your video Not people who are looking to purchase life insurance.

A high school diploma is not required. You need to be 18 and over, have no felonies, take the state exam, and pass to be licensed. Also, be sure to clear out any large debts you may have reported on your credit report b/c some carriers may not approve your appointment if you have large debts that are not paid or have an arrangement to pay them off.

@@ErinNogueira Agent would be a more proper term for an Underwriter, especially if you are acting under a binding authority from a capacity provider. By the sounds of it, what you are doing is broking.

Underwriters work for carriers to ensure risks meet their guidelines. Agents work for direct writers or brokers to bring in business. Insurance Consultant, Insurance Agent, etc however a carrier/agency defines it is a sales role.

I guess it depends on the individual.. if you don’t have a strong network then it’s impossible. If you don’t have exceptional people skills then it’s also impossible to build a strong network. You also need to be able to multitask, be organized, understand dozens of carriers, work simultaneously with other industry professionals to get work done on time, etc.
