Nice rollback. You should build a storage cage behind the toolboxes for extra storage. You can keep you wood behind it. You can make custom ramps and keep them behind there. If you like keeping the chains on the pylon you should build a metal bracket with notches to put where the chains are hanging so they stay in place. I’ve never seen calipers break like that. To my surprise man the chains don’t really move, I thought it was going to be an issue but I think where the racks are so full everything stays in place pretty good!

How do you charge for your tows or is it pretty much a set rate with a hook up fee plus per mile

Thanks for sharing! Great video to have an idea about the business, I’m about to buy my first tow truck, I’m thinking about Ford F350 financed for $1200/month and a $300/month power tilt trailer with winch, what’s your advice about this setup? Can I be profitable considering the insurance is $600-$1200 and gas? And do you recommend a rollback flatbed like yours instead? Thanks again!

I recommend a rollback, easier to maneuver, some people/ motor clubs are hesitant about a truck and trailer, but I also have friends who are very successful with a truck and trailer setup. It all depends on your needs! Are you in a city or out in the country somewhere? Is it going to be in lot of tight spots or are you going to have plenty of room to fit a truck and trailer? There’s alot to consider with it

If you can find a cheap wrecker I would totally recommend that option. Building a truck is hard especially if you don't have a straight frame. I know Detroit wrecker sales sells the little herc and tons more options. I would aim for a conventional wrecker with a boom to start out, twin line winches if possible!

Question do you need any special permits to do roadside assistance for insurance companies?

For us just have the right insurance, I don’t know if different states require different things! I do know on heavy stuff you have to be dot certified but we’re a long while away from that haha

What do you need to become a tow truck driver? I really wanna work for a towing company because I go to automotive school but I have no experience as a tow truck driver and I’m only 19

You need a driver's license and a dot medical card to run light duty and you need a class a CDL for medium and heavy duty the problem with being young is most insurance companies don't like to insure people under 25 so you need to find someone willing to take a chance on you best thing to do is go apply to a tow company work in there shop/yard don't be afraid to learn everything you can and they'll train you. I started at 17 as a truck washer/shop helper after helping in the yard for a few months we had a heavy duty driver quit so I started running the wrecker and having someone drive me until I turned 18 and got my license after that they turned me loose I ended up working there for 10 years and became there top operator and mechanic now I'm working on starting my own company
