The level of nutrition and training between what we had in the 70’s and now is night and day, even my nephew who played in the early 2000’s didn’t have all this. They didn’t even want us to lift weights for fear of becoming “too bulky and slow”.

TRUE but as a counter, there wasn't millions of potential athletes vying to compete so the competition-level wasn't as intense...for example, there was like a dozen high school players looking to be the starting centerfielder at their local school but now, there's like hundreds of prospects so the compounding effect of the sport is basically equivalent to back in the day...IMO, you can't compare players from different eras because sports will always continue to evolve
