RT is one of the unrecognized departments. I mean I asked my family about it but they don't know either. But it's fine I hope one day RT will be recognized by all. And not to be considered as a path where it is paid. At the end of the day it feels amazing to help patients. One amazing thing about this is that we have to walk a lot, a nice exercise for RT.

You do very well with the clinical narrative of your day and what's going on in your shift. Thanks for inspiring so many young women to continue their education and enter the exciting field of allied healthcare. There's literally so many opportunities and the need is critical, just as much as we need nurses, we also need an abundance of "technicians" not just Medical Assistants. Thanks for letting us spend the shift with you

@ceciliaamorena33532 жыл бұрын
I work at a huge facility, we try to keep 13-15 RTs per shift. When there’s an emergency with your patient, you should be the first to respond. We have “swat RTs” that respond to every code in the hospital, and they’ll come to support you so you’re never alone. Other than that, you’re encouraged to help out if you’re nearby and have the time. Everywhere is different though 😊 it’s a good thing to ask during clinical

It depends the size of the facility/ work you’ll be doing. Some RTs are PFT techs or work outpatient rehab which is less physical. At my hospital we still have to chart between patients which gives you a good 5-10 min of sitting. Plus quite a bit of downtime (1 hr) between rounds on less busy days.

@@Dee-jp6no for me, I wasn't aware you had to stand the entire time and keep your hands essentially mid chest. I was thinking in the future. Like will i be able to do this for years to come, as it will be hard on the body. I chose RT, because it offers growth as baby boomers are in the age of having respiratory issues, emphysema, and other chronic issues are going to grow, especially with the research on how vaping effects the lungs. pay is really good in nyc and after 1-2 years you can just do contract work away or local to make more money if youre in a region with lower or median pay.
