So true about the boots. I’m sleeping on my sausage dog sheets while wearing my sausage dog pjs. My husband owns exactly one dress shirt….yep dachshunds all over it.

So y’all are living my life. I started my marriage first with a (standard size-27 pounds. NOT fat. Just a big boy hunting hound at his most robust and healthy!) Black and Tan (Magnus). Two years later we got our chocolate and tan girl, Scarlett O’Hara! (The best bit about that was when we would be at the vet they would call out “Scarlett O’Hara?” and the entire waiting room would laugh 😂) Dachshunds are without a doubt the best of the best. They are loyal and loving and naughty and hilarious and hungry. You chose well. Those gorgeous faces KILL ME! Nothing sweeter than hound face! Some unsolicited advice from one sausage dog owner to another… 1. Mine were crate trained too. They are both full time bed dogs. Bc they will use their Jedi mind tricks. Dachshunds think they are people. They prefer people beds. Preferably the king size mattress you will end up buying to accommodate all the extra wee feet and tails. For serious. Accept. *ahem* 😉 😍 2. My pups were wolf chewers. They loved their nylabones. Then my Scarlett broke two teeth. We had to take her to a “CANINE DENTIST”. Yes that is a thing and she was As expensive as she sounds I’m afraid. She gave my hubs and I a stern look and said “NO MORE NYLABONES!!! If the toy would break human teeth it will break dog teeth. I don’t know why vets suggest them. Especially for dachshunds who are relentless and dedicated chewers. If you can press on a toy and can’t leave an indentation with your fingernail do NOT give it to your dog!”. Then she collected her $2000 and bought another Porsche. (Not sure if the Porsche bit is true. But that was the final cost of of the broken teeth saga. 😱) Kong toys. They will happily chew those too. A lot less expensive than dental surgery!!!! 3. Enjoy them. Watch the weight. Protect their backs. Know that they will love you for life and be so dedicated to you. Thanks for being such great dachshund owners. It does my heart good to see them so loved. Thank you for sharing them. ❤️

Too cute. They are very quiet? My son has had a couple regular size (both rescues) who were quite barky. Just as lovable though.

Im getting one this August I just can't not decide what colour even chocolate and tan or black and tan I used to be certain on the black and tan but I'm undecided now life long dream

I’ve always seen the Black and Tan as the typical ‘sausage dog’ hence why I got it first… maybe go for two 👀 Haha

I have a Black and Tan Reggie as well and I am looking to get my second! Can I ask if you got Reggie and Rex at the same time? Just wondering how our spoilt Reggie would react 🙈

A seconds is ALWAYS worth it! We got them about 2 years apart and we were worried to get another because he’s such a prince but they are like best buds now! Initially he was a little excited, then ‘what you still doing here’ kind of attitude and then it’s turned into a proper bromance. It’s great because they can play together instead of relying on us all the time. All the best with sausage no.2!

Don't bother trying to get them to sleep outside your bed. Once you've let them once, you're committed. It's mean to deprive them. Just get a bigger blanket.
