Ours would never play fetch. If we threw something for them to fetch we would get a withering stare that said ‘if you’re stupid enough to throw it then you can go and get it’

We taught him to shake first (put his paw in our hands) then introduced the bell and asked him to “paw” it + give a treat each time. Then we started introducing the command “ring the bell.” Once he understood that, every time we’d bring him out to go potty we’d ring the bell first and ask him to ring it. He eventually picked up the meaning that if he rings the bell it equals potty time. Hope that makes sense 😅

I'll answer you according to my uncaged 8mth old Weiner dog . After 4 months of "consistent" potty training my dog now goes for his leash which I hang near the door, or barks at me when he has to potty . As far as how many times he has to go depends on how much it is fed and how old the dog is . My dog is currently at 8 months and on a normal not too many treats day😁 he goes about three times a day . If he gets extra an additional 1 to 2 more in a 24hr time frame . I'm told once they reach 1 year and older the time poo may drop to twice daily . When I got him at two months old he needed go pee and or poo every 2 hours or so during the day and then 2 to three times at night .. That's my experience with my dog .

So sweet 🥰😍! But ....... ....... Stairs 😖!?!? Stairs in general are not the best thing for Dachshounds, going/ running stairs downwards is a killer 🤕😨😱! Our first dog was a rough coated Dachshound and at that time, we lived in a 4-story condo (basement to attic) and we didn’t know that stairs are very bad for Dachshounds, especially for puppies 🐶! So she eventually developed prolapsed discs and became paralyzed🥺! Over the years she received 2 surgeries (3 damaged discs in total) and had to learn walking again 😥! We never ever let her walk stairs on her own again after her first surgery, but some other discs were damaged enough already so she needed a second surgery some years later on 😭! Bearing that terrible experience in mind, I feel forced to pass our knowledge onwards 😕! Feel free to spread the word 🤗🥰😘!

I’m 16 I got my first Datsun for fre Whalen I was 12 now he’s like 10 and lazy so he might not have much longer because he won’t exercise and then I got my first German shepherd for my 14 birthday witch I did pay for and I love my dogs more than my own family there my bests friend but my Datsun might not have much longer and I plan on getting another just because there so cute and love to cuddle

A boy! We didn’t want to deal with periods and potential phantom pregnancies. Also girl dachshunds are of course more expensive too + spaying is more expensive as well. Hope this helps!

Only one short walk a Day and 2 one minute pipi walks really?? Shame on you showing this on KZbin. A dachshound is made for hunting and needs 2 hours of exerzise every day, free running, contact with other dogs...this is cruel. And why does he have to sleep in this tiny cage? A dog should be able to choose its own sleeping place. My dog ​​often changes place at night when he likes it cooler or warmer or he wants to get some water.

@Nina Tchan I come from Germany - the country the dachshund originally came from. My grandfather bred dachshunds so i know very well about the breed. Every german book about the breed says that the breed is an active hunting dog with the heart of a big dog. That is why he needs at least 2 hours of exercise every day! No dog on the planet is happy with only one hour.

@@Lina-te1iq it depends on the dog but dachshund generally only need 1 hour of exercise. I’m sure they take the dog out for potty several times a day but they didn’t put it in the video. Crate training is actually helpful and not cruel because it gives a dog a safe and calm place to be when they’re stress.Just because that’s how you take care of a dog it doesn’t mean it’s right for every dog. You really judge this from 1 video seems like you’re the idiot here 😒
