People alwayss think that working on yachts is traveling, meeting celebrities, shopping in high emd boutiques, dinners at expensive Michelin star restaurants and playing in the ocean all day, which form guests it is. If they want that. But the crew is cleaning, cleaning more, planning things, organizing areas, coordinating guest movements and activities and then maintenance on equipment. So glad you are showing the crew side of life. Yes the travel and pay can be great and the time off in exottic ports is always fun, but there is a lot of work and a lot of sacrifice for that lifestyle. 9-5 doesn't exist much and the lofe of people outside the yacht is something you rarely participate in. It can get lonely too.

Thanks for making this content Kelli. It's great to get an inside look at a crew's life on a yacht. I hope to have an 80-90 foot boat one day as a full-time liveaboard. My biggest fear is not finding a captain and cook/stew. It seems everyone wants the charter life. What are your thoughts on charter vs. private boat crew work?

Thank you Curtis. I’ve only worked on private vessels and love the relationships I’ve built with the owners and their guests. I think people prefer chargers mainly for the tips, so if you pay your crew well and have a decent itinerary, you’ll have no problem finding your crew.

Get your STCW and eng1 (google it) then get you CV created to send to jobs posted online. It doesn’t hurt meeting with crew agencies also 💪🏽

if no guests and no owners for weeks or months - why are you guys not sleeping in the guest cabins - you could still use crew bath/toilet - seems like a unsignificant perk to easily be granted by the owners - or are you just not showing it lol

They have offered the option to us, and we tried briefly but honestly I get better sleep in the crew bunk room 😂
