Great video mate - pity the river is polluted AF!. So sad in Sydney we have not done more to protect our waterways. I have fished Sydney Harbour and tributaries and also Botany, Georges, Hawkesbury, Pittwater , the Cox's, Jenolan River etc, etc, since I was 5 y.o ( I am 51 y.o now) - and we used to be able to eat ANY fish out of ANY system back in the 80's. The change in water quality and also bait fish and also species etc is astonishing. I mean I used to fish all around Kirribilli in the 80's and we used to both fish, and spearfish from Luna Park all the way around to the Sydney Yacht Squadron area - and there were tonnes of fish. Now it is sparse. Whiting fillets are about $50 AUD a kilogram at most reputable fishmongers, and it is one of the BEST fish to eat bar none, however along with Bream they are full of chemicals now. When I was a teenager - Fish & Chips were mostly "flake" - shark , and everyone loved it, but now it is Flathead - which back then was a "junk" fish - now it is over $40 AUD a kilo. We really need to lobby the government to do more to protect out waterways and fisheries......
@ShroomFishing2 жыл бұрын
Thank you and awesome information! I can't believe how much it's changed and it doesnt seem all that long ago either how much better these systems were. We just gotta do our bit and be mindful of what we put in the water and take our rubbish with us. I think a little goes a long way and I'd like to think that the waterways in years to come will go back to their former glory

@ShroomFishing3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Joey. I'm using a 6-8lb 7' rod but in general a 3-6 or 4-8lb rod is the ideal line class. You should be able to get a really long cast on 1/16 and sufficiently long cast on 1/20. Are you using braid? Also if you are, it should be very think around 0.6PE

@@ShroomFishing cheers mate. What leader strenght will you use for the splash prawn. Do you still use 6 lb or up it to 8 or 10 lb for surface lures. And do you switch to a mono leader when using surface lures or stick with FC?
@ShroomFishing4 жыл бұрын
@@anthonycox1870 FC out of habit. Mono can be better. If I use FC usually out of laziness so I cut it shorter to not weigh it down as much. 4-10lb depending on terrain. If it's wide open flats with smaller class of fish I might go the 4lb which is rare for me. If it's against oyster-encrusted rocks, I might do 8 or 10lb.

You were probably sliced off on something sharp. This is the problem with fluoro carbon. Its only 10 % harder than nylon which doesn't save you. But its knot durability is only about 50 % of nylon. So there's a big penalty trade off using it. Me, I'll take the knot strength option.
