Hopefully you guys find this helpful so Here's a bunch of tips for new people so you don't make the same mistakes. 1) skip thatch don't bother putting points into it at all like at all no joke skip it. 2) your very first 3 tech points should go into bow, arrow, and knife the reason why you can speed level to 10 by killing wolves 3) you can deconstruct building pieces with y in other words don't destroy it with a weapon or axe. 4) don't bother hunting deer hunt wolves. 5) if a bear attacks you get in the water and attack with knife or arrows. 6) put your torch in you light slot it frees up your hands and allows you to still see. 7) don't go for the first oxidizer or storage just focus on reaching level 10 first. 8) work benches have plenty of storage use them instead of storage boxes. 9) your wondering how to survive storms without thatch it's easy what you do is dig out a large boulder to hide in and place down a bedroll place fire outside of the boulder home and tada sleep and shelter from storms. 10) once you have grinded your levels to 10 then worry building aesthetics like railings, ladders and so on. 11) use work benches as storage chests in the beginning because as you collect them they have way more than chests. 12) if you want to know more I'll tell you more just ask or watch. this covers most of the things he had trouble with or didn't know you could do and when he gets the storage chest and first oxidizer I can tell you guys that's a mistake and not to waste your points on it

I think what I love about this game is the freedom of ways to play, you can build a permanent base and go back to it or you can do the missions and build just the minimal to get by or go all out for each mission

Omg, I'm so excited! This is my favorite survival game to watch on KZbin. I vote that this and Valheim be the 2 main series for now. Also GameEdged, if you read this, you should do a little ARK series. Love this game. Started playing on Direct X 12. The shadowy areas are much less shadowy. And just to get you back on this game. 1) You can deploy stacks or buildables directly from the inventory (instead of equipping it in your number slots) by right clicking it. 2) hitting those thin stick like trees with axes gives you more yield on sticks and when you get the sickle, you can harvest the bushes with it to give you 10X fibre. 3) don't forget to craft the repair hammer and fire whacking tool. Storms destroy your shelter and lightening strikes can ignite your shelter. 4) You can also carve out big rocks and use them as shelters for yourself or your campfires.

How is it on dx12? Currently have an issue to run the game. Pc specs are i710700f 32 ram ssd m.2 game is on. 3060 oc 12gb. Help please. Really love the game new to it. Ram threw the settings still getting stutters and low fps drops… anything would be appreciated.

@@98stangsideways-yeet You will need a 3090 or better to run it smoothly. I've read some people run this on 3080 and 3080Ti as well, but it can get choppy if there is a horde of animals attacking you. it plays well on Dx12 though it does warn you about dropped frame-rates at the time of selection. The only thing I can suggest is once you start in Dx12, play with the settings a little. Like shadows don't need to be too high. Medium will also work since it doesn't affect the look that much. And see if you can compromise on some other settings. If there's a DLSS, try turning it on. But mainly its a game of mix-and-match with a 3060.

I remember getting this title when it released on Steam ( after watching your early video of it of course, another of many many titles I have in my library after watching you play them ) and after playing it for a few days I was a little bummed from the constant "restart" for each mission and wanting what this new game mode now offers, so yeah I expect seeing my play hours of this one reach a few thousand hours like a few others that I have enjoyed a bunch throughout the years! I remember this game, all the animals can breathe just fine but people magically can't yet there's enough O2 for trees, and your house, to burn down just fine and some how minor thunderstorms cause you physical harm just being out in them even though you're in a spacesuit. lol Good game, bad logic for a scifi. Oh, and youre not allowed to bring any super futuristic tools down with you to the primitive, hostile, planet.

i have 600 hours in this game its so good, you cant gain any currency in open world at the moment, so if you want exotics etc you have to do the missions, but as its open world, you can travel the entire map so close to unlimited resources so you can make good armor, weapons and tools etc, build the radio tower thing that you learn in blueprints to do in game missions for rewards and exp Press Y to dismantle building pieces .and you get it back. your torch can go in the slot left of number 1 on your hot bar, press L to turn on/off trees don't grow back, so chop the stumps too wood hammer lets you repair your building, and its used to upgrade thatch to wood etc. you only get so many talent points so choose wisely, 50 in total. i have 4 chars with different talent choices for certain missions etc.

It's awesome that they've finally implemented a persistence mode to the game. I played the game on release and quickly got discouraged because of the lack of a "Saved Game" option. Since the update I have played 10 hours straight and this will be my new favorite! Love the game!

Some great tips on here.. Sadly most of the negative effects are nearly moot in this game. Parasites just increase hunger a bit. if you're hunting much you won't even notice. Pneumonia in the caves/mines increases oxygen usage, but again plenty of oxite in the game and if you have any of the oxidizers, or even better oxygen bladder, it's not a big deal . komodo poison is annoying by shortening your food buff time and piranha and cave worms poison you but with a cooked meat buff it's basically negated. some other tips I didn't see are upgrade your tools to higher tier when you can. It not only harvests faster but you get higher yields as well (picks, axes, sickles and knives) storms are the biggest pain in the game until you get to stone structures.. a flash storm can wreck wood fast and even rain does like 12% damage to each structure per hit... if it takes much damage you lose shelter status and can't sleep or use workbenches until it's repaired.

GE Iv'e been a long time subber and love your contant. You and one other of your colleuges have given me hours of entertainment. I have purchased a lot of the games that you have played and one of my Favs is "Osiras New Dawn".... especialy now with the new update. I hope they developers continue the story! Never the less I decided to purchase this game (TODAY 12/25/2022) because of your gameplay vids as well as a couple of others. WELLLLLLLLLL I installed it.....Created My toon.......used the open world feature......and "DIED" in 10 min! ROLF I"M HOOKED! If you have access to the Dev's let them know this 65 YO disabled guy is gonna NEVER get sleep! The "skill tree" alone will take me a year to master.....nevermind the missions, building, surviving, hunting, ect, and then they add New content and everything gets more intense!....DUDE WT$. This game is a gold mine! Open world, adding new missions, evolving....WOW! Have the dev's need to concentrate on this portion of the gane in my opinion! Open World, Missions, ect. It is a geniouse lvl of game development! Just a favor check on me in 6 months just to make sure I ate and had water! LOL. Ty man for your content and game play! AVB

My friend and I started on Styx and wound up going back to Olympus because of the storms. Now that we know better the first thing to do is head for a cave on Styx. Until you can get concrete for your buildings.

"Y" is how you dismantle stuff. Place the torch in the "L" spot just left of 1 on your hot bar. Get a knife and a bow and stone arrows or you won't survive.

Bypas thatch building, dig out a rock for storms. When building if you screw up something just press Y to remove that part of the structure, don't take it down with your axe.

I figured out the lag is related to fire so when you have a fire torch activated in your belt or in a device and you start lagging turn off all local fires and then you can start them again lag free hopefully
