These are by far the most durable arrows I've seen...so far. I was convinced my next arrow build would be Gold Tip Kinetics, but this video put a quick stop to that project. These Day Six arrows look like they would be perfect for all the stump shooting I do. My VAP arrows that have Black Eagle steel outserts to increase durability compared to the VAP shok inserts(garbage in my opinion) still break behind the outsert or a couple inches higher on even minor impacts from my recurve let alone my compounds. I'm convinced VAP carbon breaks easier compared to other carbon.

Arturo Flores You’re right. I believe those VAPs have graphite in them. Makes it easier for the manufacturer to make straight but sacrifices durability.

@@backcountrycache8528 I have Black Eagle Instincts with the steel outserts that are seemingly indestructible(stumping)with both recurves and compounds-just will not break. I've also had good durability experience with footed Axis arrows. This really does lend into the strength of the carbon being the issue.

Good to hear those Instincts are tough. Some of my tests with Rampages haven’t done so well.

If you watch the end of the collar closely when you are spinning the arrow with the broadhead, you'll notice its not the arrow that is wobbling, it's the cheap nap head that's wobbling. Great review though

The straightness tolerance for my dozen were all within the +/-0.001 tolerance run out range. Tested on an arrow spine tester/aligner. The ends have a bit of run out but that was to be expected. Thanks for the cool video

I've been agonizing form months over which arrow to switch to. I have been shooting Bloodsport Elites for years and had good success with them, but they use an outsert system that slips over the shaft and they are a pain to get to broadhead spin and always catch on the bag target. Plus they don't make them anymore. I really appreciate your tests and videos. In your opinion what is the most accurate and most durable arrow combination? I have been thinking on VAP TKO's, BE Rampages, Easton Axis, Gold Tip, and Day Six. I was also looking at Ethics Archery insert system. I'm shooting 82 lbs, 30" draw, and want my arrow to stay in the 550 grain area, with lots of FOC. Thoughts????

To stay around 550 range and tune with your setup I’d go with Easton Axis 260(match grade). They come with a more durable nock than the rest of them and the price point is really good. Day6 you’ll be heavier +600gr arrow. Iron will outfitters just came out with some collars/HIT inserts that look amazing and really easy to install. Those Ethics half outs look like they’d be a pain to get to spin true. With 82lb and 30” draw you won’t be able to find a arrow stiff enough to accommodate for high foc around 550 so don’t worry about it. Youll have a great setup still with 10-16%. You may need to have your rest set all the way back and shoot about a 28” arrow to get to tune with 50-75gr insert and 100-125 bh. Also might need a wrap and some heavier fletchings in 4 fletch. I’m very similar specs to you for my elk hunting setup. Takes a little work to tune a arrow for us high lb. long draw guys. Good luck and thanks!

Yeah, I live in Montana so mine is set up for elk and Thor hammers everything else! I'd be okay with 600 plus if that's what it takes. I've been shooting a 125 gr head, and have been thinking on 4 fletch. You got me looking at the VaneTecs. Thinking the low profile 2.3". The Iron Will collars are only an inch long. Do you think that's enough? How long are the Day Six collars? Those seemed amazing in your vid.So basically you're saying the spine is usually too weak with this kind of setup and suggesting a shorter arrow suggestion to stiffen it? Also what is the max up front weight you would recommend (minus the 125 gr head)?
@backcountrycache8528
@backcountrycache8528 5 жыл бұрын
jb05abproductions I’m all about heavy so 600+ is what I’d recommend with a speed of 250fps at least which I’m sure you’ll hit, depends. Yes those Ironwill will be long enough with their inserts on the Axis. The Easton only go to 260 which means you’d have to cut them down more than a 250 spine D6. 100grains collar/insert is what I shoot.

12.6 to 12.8 is only 2 thousands not 5 grains only 2 thousands so that's pretty fucken awesome as well as these arrows they're Dam near indestructable. Unless you're shooting into steel or a solid concrete wall lol. I don't think an animal on a planet Will stand a chance.

So your shooting axis arrows 260 (cut to 250) with 100g day six footer. Do you mind me asking what your draw weight is and if your shooting 100g tips or 125s. I’m looking to changes arrows to your set up. I’m at 60lbs but don’t really know how stif of a spine I should go if I’m adding 100g footer to it. And then add in 100/125 tip Any info would be greatly appreciated.

cosmo salas No. I’m shooting Daysix arrows with their system. The axis was only for comparison in diameter size in video. The comment below was a guy asking about using Axis with a different companies(IW) collar. Hope this clears it up for you.

If you look on Daysix website they have a spine chart. You’ll probably be good with a 350 spine though.

I just ordered some day 6 arrows. I shoot 66 lbs with a 27 inch draw wieght. I went with the 300s with the 100 grain collar. Planning on shooting 100 grain broadheads. Do you think that setup will fly pretty nice for me? Thanks for the video review!

Milan Knezevic These arrows include high quality components(Inserts, collars). When you build your own system with other brands and same specs you end up spending more money especially when you add up shipping costs.

Crusty Hunts Weak spine reaction. Go buy some 100 and 125 field points. This is usually a weak spine reaction. Try both those and see if it solves it. It should.
