I read the video first because I couldn’t use my earbuds at the time, but listening to it I realized what’s happening! When Kris’ eyes are red, they’re the one in control. When their eyes are shaded, the player is the one in control. This is all about Kris trying to accept they have no control over their own actions, their own life.

I thought that before I saw this, as a kinda "Susie looks for Kris at their home and finds the soul in the cage" thing. Though, I may list a few other possibilities: -we regain control over sleeping Kris -Toriel finds the soul in Kris' room and (perhaps) tries to help it somehow -Asriel's bed (well, the space under it) acts as another path to a (different?) part of the Darkener world (inspired by a comic I forgot the name of-paper (sth.), perhaps?) and a Darkener enters the room while Kris is in school -Asriel comes home early and finds the soul -Kris dumps the cage through the window, accidentally busting it open and we take control over a random monster walking past (or maybe Toriel sees it when she goes outside?) Nontherless, there's a bunch of different ways chapter 2 will start, but the beggining will DEFFINETLY include this.
