The safety shot play is perhaps the most fascinating aspect of the game I think. For that reason I don't like jump sticks being allowed in most tournaments. Safety play shows you what these guys really know.

Jump sticks are not helping the game. Kicking is a great part of pool and jump sticks take away a lot of that.

For argument’s sake I would say that safety’s have to be more accurate when jump cues are used. Locking up on top of another ball takes the jump out of the equation. I don’t have a problem with jump cues.

That's not the only time Earl cheated. I remember seeing him many years ago on ESPN when he moved an object ball with his arm, the referee was behind him & didn't see it. But the camera caught it. I'm a fan of Ruiz, but at the end of the day, I'm Team-USA. I think few could honestly say that they favored Woodward to win; Ruiz has been a GOD this year. But with the effect, the not-insubstantial-effect, of this genuinely unique venue, things can turn out different. Think about it, 99% or higher, and no matter where you are in the world, crowds are silent and reserved; the game is considered solemn. But in the Mosconi Cup the atmosphere is more like the Super Bowl or World Cup. People are naked and painted, wearing wigs, some are nearly-unhinged. When I watched last year's Cup, I didn't care for it, it felt like Billiard "sports" weren't being given due respect. I've gotten over myself - because at the Cup, anything is possible. Woodward FTW !
