Day6 is probably the kband with most variety between songs and albums I know, they really like to experiment with every sound ever, from bossa nova to alternative rock, from reggae (yes, really) inspired chords and reggaeton beats to jrock that feels like it came out of an anime, to soft ballads. All this while always managing to add their own flavor.

1:15 I tend to think of "K-pop" as referring more to the _system_ than as a music genre, in which trainees are recruited by agencies and trained and put together as groups _within_ that agency. In that scenario, DAY6 are both a rock group in the musical sense, they are also K-pop idols. Bands like Rolling Quartz are much more traditional, self-formed units (although RQ do use some of the same _marketing_ tactics as K-pop, like photocards etc). Then you have bands like Onewe who sort of straddle the line; they formed organically, _then_ joined RBW as a band and underwent further training before redebuting. But I don't think there's a hard-and-fast rule as to _exactly_ what constitutes K-pop... 1:30 Oh, Dowoon is a _very_ good drummer; good eye on the electronic drum kit, by the way! And indeed, they're all excellent vocalists, though Dowoon does mostly save his talent for backing vocals and special occasions. 😜 2:50 They _do_ normally end with the latest single, but with a title like that, they kinda _have_ to open with it, don't they? 😜 9:40 Funny thing about; Sungjin's voice isn't _actually_ husky. He has a naturally smooth tone, but he _trained_ to put on the rasp because he figured it'd suit the rock style better and add more variety to the group as a whole... 10:35 Wonpil is older than Seungmin by about 6 1/2 years (April '94; he's turning 30 in a month). Meanwhile Young K is Han's big bro (and Bang Chan's ex-roommate, actually this time). 16:35 Can confirm. Saw them in January 2020 in Brixton (back when they were a five-piece), and they _smashed_ it live. Hopefully now they're all back together, we'll see them touring again and you'll have a chance yourselves! 16:50 Nah, they don't have a main vocalist, they just all _do_ vocals. And Young K also raps. 18:30 To be fair, it also makes sense because pronouncing it this way, it kinda rhymes with the other lines. There have been occasions where it's been pronounced the other way (I believe in the original MV, and without looking, I think that was mostly ex-member Jae, who was raised in the US), but generally they'll do it like this. 20:15 And then you have Dowoon's gorgeous baritone, which really adds to the mix when they use him... 23:40 Since this Killing Voice came out, Sweet Chaos has been running through my head a _lot..._ 😂 24:25 Yeah, Young K _really_ loves doing this, he's really found his calling. He released some gorgeous stuff both while he was serving in the military and while the _others_ were, and he's also a really supportive senior. Check out NMIXX's Run For Roses performance on It's Live; Young K co-wrote the song, and the girls asked him to perform it with them... 🥰 (and I also love watching his "proud mum" face when Dowoon sings... 😂)

Thank you for the reaction. You both have such a lovely demeanour! It’s the perfect time to get to know day6 - they just came back from a hiatus (all the members were participating in their military service). They have a wide variety of songs, (which I like to think are all amazing but that could be my bias showing) so there’s always something for everyone but makes choosing one single song for first reaction difficult. Any song from the killing voice video would be great since you’ve already heard a snippet. Sungjin (the guitarist), is technically the main vocalist, but they themselves tend to call themselves all main vocalists (Sungjin, Young k (the bassist) and Wonpil (Keyboard)) Dowoon (drummer), doesn’t generally sing, but he can be heard on occasion in some of their songs (which make them all the more special imo) Some extra info: They debuted as a 6 member group Sept 2015, but are currently 4 members. One (Junhyeok) left early on in their career at the start of 2016, and the other (Jae) left the group at the end of 2021. They definitely went through a lot but I like to think they came out stronger. Also “Welcome to the show” is their first title track as a 4 member band. (Apologies for the long message!)

The leader, Sungjin had to learn how to put the huskiness in voice--also had to learn guitar in 6 weeks!! Sweet Chaos has an amazing mv. Their song I Wait is one of my faves. For the main vocalist position I’m not bragging but they are all main vocalists. Their voice all suits different genre different kind of songs so they usually change the main vocalist for different songs. I’m not sure where I watched about this but someone said because all of them are main vocalists it’s pretty easy to work with since they can all sing the hard part so they can change their parts with one another.

Yes! I’ve been waiting for you to react to day6 for so long and am so glad you did!! They are all amazingly talented and write and compose all of their songs themselves with youngk (the bassist) being the main lyricist and actually a big lyricist in the industry writing for many other artists. There used to be five members but Jay (vocalist and lead guitarist) left at the end of 2021 and since the members have all just recently completed their military service this is their first comeback as a full group since his departure. They have such an amazing discography so I can’t wait for you to discover more! Also, Jay is American and youngk studied in canada so both are fluent in English which explains why they all have such good pronunciation.

K-rock draws from a lot of great stuff, like Xdinary Heroes (Day6 lil bros) have hard rock/punk/nu metal/surf rock, Woodz has some grunge and industrial rock, Lucy have violin rock, the list goes on, I'm just scratching the surface.

One of the things the Korean music industry is known for is the short period of time between new music releases from an artist. Equipped with a new song, music video, and B-tracks of about 3-4 songs; fans could see their favorite artist releasing something new every 3-6 months as opposed to every other year. DAY6 decided to take a very new approach to this traditional practice. Instead of releasing a track sparingly (as they did when they debuted), they promised that in 2017, they would release one title track with a music video and one B-side track every month for the entire year. In addition to these releases, would also be holding a concert to accommodate each new addition to the project. It was risky, but proved to be something special. They are genius!

18:30 the bassist used to live in canada so he's fluent in english, and sungjin (the guitarist) is one of the non-english-speaker i knew in kpop that can pronounce english word without korean accent perfectly (just like D.O from EXO)

Thank you for your reaction. It may be easier to start with day6's English version of songs. The two most famous are you were beautiful, time of our life. Zombie is the most relatable song for me. Congratulations is their amazing debut song. All four are available in English version. Although some say the original Korean lyrics are more beautiful than the English ones, I think starting with the English version may be easier so you don't have to read the subtitles.

They’re great live, saw them in Brixton January 2020, a few months after watching Stray Kids there. Obviously because of events the venue had to close, but it was the only smaller one that had allocated seat numbers so you didn’t have to line up for 12+ hours even with a seated ticket like I did to get front row seats for Ateez!

Immediately was excited for reactions as soon as Day6s killing voice came out as I was hoping it would introduce more people to the group! Y’all are one of my favorite reactors so I was so excited to see this reaction, to answer your question at the beginning of the video I would call Day6 a K-pop band similar to other bands like FT.Island, N.Flying, Lucy and Xtraordinary Hereos. All these bands are under K-pop companies and promote like K-pop idols the only real difference is that they play instruments instead of dancing (I mean they can dance tho *insert Sungjin being the best dancer under JYP here*). I think it’s always good to consider K-pop an industry instead of a genre because many genres can be a K-pop song!

I love them so much and I’m going fully insane now that they are back! I would classify them as a kpop band (as opposed to a group) which is a bit niche thing. They are a rock band but they were all (except Dowoon the drummer, I think) trained as idols before they were put in a band. They are a product of kpop industry so technically they are kpop even if they are a pop rock band.

Their bassist - Young K is the main lyricist of the group, he wrote almost all their songs. He also a solo artist and radio DJ. A lot of popular K-pop Idols/artists are Young K fans! I`d advise you to check his cover-project - "YOUNG ONE", there`s a lot of English songs (btw he is fluent in it). My fav: "Love Me Less" (Max, Quinn Xcii cover), "What Am I" (Why Don't We cover), "Last Call" (Hudson Thames cover), "Like A Star" (Corinne Bailey Rae cover), "What A Wonderful World (Louis Armstrong cover)

Thank you for checking out Day6! They debuted in 2015 with Congratulations and they have been giving us bangers ever since! They like to say that they hope to be a band that sings for every moment, and I think you can feel that in their incredible lyrics and multiple genres they experiment with. They write and compose all their songs, with Young K (bassist) being the main lyricist (he is currently the 3rd most credit songwriter in kpop), but they don't have a designated main vocal. McFLY and DAY6 yesssss. Sungjin's (the guitarist) voice reminds me so much of Danny's from McFLY. Some have also already mentioned that technically they don't have a main vocalist because they're all main vocals! Fun DAY6 lore is Sungjin was (is?) a horrible dancer 😅, so to avoid having to get rid of him and his voice, JYPE started a band just so they could keep him.

Subs do not come until far later the video is up, NCT 127 has subs because its an older video so eventually they will but don't expect a new Killing Voice to have subs. Also krock is the term for Day6 music but you can call them a band. Seungmin does infact look similar to Wonpil lol and funny how Seungmin is a huge MyDay (day6 fandom name) Day6 and kbands in general I can say confidently have the best vocals. So Day6 sound is intresting because most title tracks are either bright or emotional where their bsides tend to be more classic rock. Fun fact(?) Day6 when they were 5 members had a saying that Day6 had 5 vocalists, Dowoon (drummer) was never trained to sing but he wanted to learn and eventually took lessons so when he sings in songs, which is rare, automatically a fav for the fandom lol.
