These Savage mark 2’s are very underrated. I love mine, but run iron sights, and they produce ragged hole 10 shot groups with the ammo they like. Your bolt seems to be a little rough. You asked what we’d do with that rifle. I’d leave it alone, unless it consistently shoots a flier. Then I’d look at the bedding. Leave it in the Boyd’s stock. It’s a good looking rifle, and appears to be shooting well. I also agree, there should be a factory class rimfire challenge

Fwiw , the Sako shoots better when I only clean the chamber , I wonder how much better that savage will be when it gets some fouling in the barrel? It’s pretty darned fantastic right now with Eley match

My friend, I really appreciate your honesty and passion. I have a Savage mk2. Only issues I had was mk2 needed some lapping and better platform. I love a challenge. After 45 years plus years of building many types of .22lr. The serious shooting community will find the Savage mk22 a great option. Yes I have cz,rim x and the over rated VOODOO. MY SAVAGE SHOOTS OUT PERFORMS THEM ALL. I ENCOURAGE EVERY PERSON TO BUY ONE, SPEND SOME TIME TO GET RID THE ACCU TRIGER AND BUY A BASIX TRIGGER. IM VERY HAPPY WITH MY RESULTS COMPARED TO THE HIGH DOLLAR PRETENTIOUS VOODOO. THE VOODOO WILL NOT MAKE YOU A BETTER SHOOTER. ONLY THE SHOOTER NEEDS TO PRACTICE. ILL PUT MY MK2 UP AGAINST THE VOODOO OR MY RMX. LOVE THIS SPORT

Come on Josh!! Man Eli that is an awesome setup. I inherited a Savage MK II BV from my step-father. I didn't think much of it until I started shooting it. Complete factory other than a cheap scope and it shoots really nice tight groups. So seeing this one of your preform I can see why. It appears they are just made to preform very well straight out of the box. Thanks for sharing.

I went a different route for a budget factory class rifle build. Ruger 10/22 Talo edition light varmint in stainless. Amazon scope and bipod. All in with rifle, scope, pic rail, bipod, phone adapter, and 42" soft case. Under $900 for everything. The Talo edition came with a heavy tapered barrel and looks nice. Have been sick and not shot it yet. But have CCI green tag, 3 different Eely to test. And bunch of Federal stuff to get it warmed up.

I hope that you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Savage has long had a reputation for shooting well above it's price point, a reputation that your new rifle clearly upholds. The borescope shows a very nicely done bore; better than some more expensive rifles I've looked at. Put it in the Oryx chassis and give it a try. WRT the Springfield 2020, the reviews have not been good and I won't take a $400 chance on one. I'd buy the Savage first.

Hey, just found this page. Your excitement is something else. Just got a Savage B17and I love rimfires and have four of them. One thing I noticed that you did as well, is the fact that Savage loves to leave or put that junk in the barrel. Nasty stuff. Love those groups brother. Now I’m off to the range to figure out what ammo my B-17 likes for a diet. Have not tried the Eley, gonna go online and get a couple of boxes for the 22. I’ve liked and subscribed. Did I miss how many yards? I have a savage mk11 I bought about 8 years ago, put a Nikon prostaff 4-12×40 on it and shot Aguilera subsonic solid point 40 grain through it and typically did a dime size group at 45 yards. Love to watch you calling out and trash talking Josh, good natured ribbing your buddies and having fun is what it is all about. But honestly, I have to side with Josh here as a budget CZ setup is a better choice and with the aftermarket available for CZ has potential to grow with the shooter to whatever level they choose to advance too.
@Dayattherange Жыл бұрын
Surely understand your point though that MTR just the rifle cost what I paid for everything here. I think really my question is if you are going to leave it factory never ever mess with it is it worth double?
@billwiley7216 Жыл бұрын
@@Dayattherange Savage makes a good product BUT as far as accuracy and small shot groupings the chances of getting an out of the box rifle that really shoots I think you have to agree the chances of success of hitting that high level of precision on an out of the box rifle would have to be in the CZ's wheelhouse and favor. So to answer your question even more so if I wanted a sub moa shooter out of the box and planned to leave it factory stock yes I think the CZ MTR would give me a higher percentage chance of that happening. And IF for some strange reason the CZ failed to deliver out of the box at least I could more easily rectify the issue with a drop in aftermarket barrel and still make my original purchase a shooter where with the Savage it is what it is pretty much. Last but not least as far as resale value that MTR would hold a much higher percentage of its original purchase cost as compared to the Savage so again as far as the initial cost and investment is concerned again I have to say the CZ justifies its higher cost all across the board. Also the MTR is one of CZ'S most sought after models and its popularity and reputation and desirability will help keep its value higher. So across the board I still think the CZ as a precision shooter is the better choice even though its initial investment is higher. Love your videos and content and really enjoy seeing content which includes the normal more affordable out of the box rifles both stock and with the types of mods the average guy may commonly add to the weapon.

Well, I can say that your Savage is shooting a lot better than my Springfield 2020. I really love that rifle, but it doesn't shoot worth the dang! The fit & finish is great at the price point, and the bolt runs smoothly. I only have feeding issues with ammo like the Eley Team, and my guess is it's the bullet design that causes that. Springfield had the right idea with using the 10/22 style magazine. All these pluses, but can't shoot a group the save itself. I can only hope that someone will make an aftermarket barrel for it and save it from being kicked out of my lineup. I've tried 10 or 11 different ammo and can't find one that it seems to like. It's like finding the perfect woman, but she can't cook! You know what I'm saying? It's just a crying shame!😢
