Thank you for shooting less expensive rifles on your channel. I'm impressed with your high end rifles but it is fun to see you shooting lower prices rifles. You know, the kind that many of us can afford. I just got a Savage Mark II BV and have only shot it once, so far. I ordered some CCI Standard and some Norma Tac II ammo to try out in mine. Set your action screws to the same torque. Between 25 to no more than 30 inch pounds. That has been the sweet spot on the Savages I have worked on.

I am sorry not willing to go over 20in pounds after seeing the results of going above that after seeing what happened to the last receiver and screws stretch. Many say the Savage screws are not hardened so be careful. Savage recommends 15in pounds yes 15INCH pounds.

@SavageShootersАй бұрын
A couple years ago I spent a full day at the range chronographing a number of different types of ammunition. For each ammo type I did three 20-round strings to get a good large sampling of each. What I found across the board with the cheap and mid-range ammo was that they were all pretty disappointing in terms of extreme spread and standard deviation for each string. Some of the cheaper stuff had extreme spreads over 180fps. The mid-range ammo (Eley Club, Norma Tac22, etc) in the $8-12/box range was a little better than the run of the mill cheaper stuff like CCI Standard Velocity and various "bulk" types, but in my option not sufficiently better to offset the difference in cost. The high dollar stuff (Lapua Center-X & Midas+, Federal Gold Medal, Eley Tenex, etc) was noticeably more consistent with the SD's typically being in the high single digits, but with most the ES's were still in the upper teens or very low 20fps range. So as you would expect the more you spend the better quality ammo you're getting in terms of consistency, but if you're looking to eek out every thousandth of an inch in your groups or chasing every X in a match you're going to have to pony up the cash for the high dollar stuff to be competitive.

After using almost every sort of bore cleaner in existence, none seemed to get all the lead (and copper) out of my bores no matter what I did. Same thing with carbon rings which seemed impervious to all my efforts. I then found ThorroClean and it solved the problem. I have never found anything that comes even close to this product! You might want to give it a try. If its a vintage rifle with years of fouling you might find it will take more effort (more brushing) than they say in the directions, but if done properly, your bore will look as clean as a new rifle. I wish this stuff was around when I was a kid (a long, long time ago!)

@markAGleasonАй бұрын
@@Dayattherange Trust your buddy~~it WORKS. My concern is the chamber and the first few inches of barrel. If there's a build up of lead and hard carbon at the beginning, that lead bullet is getting compressed smaller than it should before it has a chance to travel the bore. I have never found a product that actually does what it claims until now. My bores look like the day they were new. NO fouling.

The Oryx fits me much better than the regular stock as I have a longer length of pull. There is a lot that I like about it. Catch the later video's I did and you might change your mind on if the Savage is shooting or not LOL. Or go take a look at dayattherange.com/effects-of-action-torque-settings-on-accuracy/ This rifle is easily a 1/2in at 50 yard rifle which meets my expectations thats .5in keep in mind some pay 2 to 5grand for a rifle to get .2's and .3's. So I am tickled with it. My goal with this is to find hopefully some cheaper ammo that it shoots CONSISTENT .5in groups with.

Rims are thinner on Eley products vs everything else, which changes the headspace. Therefore the results can be quite impactful depending on the chamber dimensions. Hopefully I’ll be able to get a descent stock and scope later. May even stiffen up the factory stock with some 3/4 inch aluminum tubing. I've recently learned that firing a cartridge in the chamber rings the entire barrel like a bell. That bell-ringing means that the muzzle is vibrating. So, if you are chasing high-precision, you want your bullets to exit the barrel at some precise moment when the ringing has returned the muzzle to the "zero" center of oscillation. This insight supports the idea of sorting your preferred cartridges by weight.
