President cancelled this deal because he ONLY LISTENS to the POWERFUL (USA) and not his PEOPLE. Important to note that indictments were issued in the US for engaging in bribery in India - NOT in the US. But even before the US indictment there were a number of countries that had concerns about corruption within the Adani group - including India; Australia; Bangladesh and Indonesia. All these concerns were raised by the Kenyan PEOPLE but the president ignored it. His change is actually a repackaging for our optics - that he listens to the people and crucially to avoid personal embarrassment.

The issue is that an indictment against Adani and its “partners” in kenya was in the offing as American companies had also expressed interest in jkia . Americans would indict for racketeering and fraud and corruption where American companies have lost a tender due to corruption. Kenyan leaders would be unable to travel or do business with the west. It was not due to kenyan pressure but self preservation. Kudos to the USA

The next day was state of the union whereby Ruto cancels JKIA and KEtraco deals.
