Gabby, if you have to fix your helmet that many times in a lesson, it does not fit you!! Please wear a proper fitting helmet and PLEASE tighten the strap! I ride a horse very similar to Finn his names rowan and all he wants is to canter or trot as fast as humanly possible 😂😂 I found it helps if you do pressure and release with the reigns especially because rowan HATES when you keep the reigns tight and either tries to buck me off or will want to canter the entire lesson
@DayByDayVlogs4 жыл бұрын

@kmiklaszewski4 жыл бұрын
The pull release pull release on the reins is not actually a half halt. That is a huge riding misconception in the riding world these days. A half halt is for rebalancing of the horse, to ask the horse to bend the joints of the hind legs and take more weight on the hind quarters and lift or lighten the forehand, to call to attention, to check in with your horse, to tell your horse something new is coming. To there are better aids with the seat and core and at time a closing of your fingers a bit more on the reins but never just pull release pull release to slow down or stop or do a down transition. Pull release pull release can cause a sensitive quick horse to be more anxious and become even more quick and choppy or jiggy. Pull release is just that, just pulling on the mouth and trying to slow down the horse by the hands instead of with the core and seat to be kind and save the mouth. Most riders can go their entire life of riding and never have learned or ridden a proper half halt. A half halt is a combination of 3 separate aids combined together in a specific order and a half halt won’t be able to go through the horse’s body if the horse is not trained to go forward from the rider’s light leg aids with push and a surge of power and energy from the hind legs. That doesn’t mean the the rider closes the legs and the horse just runs off and is or gets quick. Give the aid and the horse should be go into the gait right away with oomph or wholeheartedly and in a steady controlled rhythm and tempo(speed) that the rider set him at. It is not hard to teach the horr the correct combination of aids to learn and ride the half halt, but you have to remember or always keep in mind that “Any work (riding/training) done in tension is a waste of time.” Here is a great video that teaches the rider the aids for the half halt and how to introduce and train it to the horse. It’s like a relaxing exercise or the “Valium exercise” Here is a great video with some exercises to try and when you can really start to get these aids correct, this is also how you ask your horse to go on the bit or round and lift the back and topline. It’s pretty amazing when you finally feel it work and how connected you are with the horse. m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYLbqZyiYpt0g9E Your horse has to be infront of your aids or light leg aids first. A half halt will absolutely not work if you always have to kick kick kick cluck cluck or tap with the whip to just get the horse walk trot or cantering. www.janesavoie.com/put-horse-front-legs/

I think that was one of your best rides on Finn! After he realized that Gabby wasn’t putting up with his nonsense, he transformed to the dream pony! No bolting, bucking, or rearing! Gabby is such a quiet rider, which I think Finn really enjoys. That this when Gabby fell was loud! I hope she’s ok! Gabby got right back on and kept riding though, which was absolutely awesome! I think he stopped because of the poles on both sides of the jump (which he probably isn’t used to), and was kinda confused lol. Really awesome ride! Great job!

You should try taking Finn out to a track or big field and gallop him. This can help any arena related problems, or treat him like his an ottb and give him 6 months off, not riding him, not playing with him. Just letting his cool down from whatever stress/anxiety he had. This really helps, people do this with ottb’s, rescues, young horses etc

Good job for getting back on and moving on so fast Gabby! However, please wear a vest. At the level you are riding and how high you jump, wear a vest, it's for your safety, you can break or seriously hurt your back while falling. If you don't like vests, look into airbags, they are quite expensive, but they are really comfortable, they don't restrict movement, and they protect you neck and the below of your back. Stay safe!

I have some tips!! Okay so if you want to get him to stop throwing his head up the more you pull back the more hell resist ur hands so doing a lot of circles and brining ur right rein out and losing the left will help him bring his head in more this helped me a lot so my house out cause he does this a lot and I see so much progress also if you sit back more it'll make him use more of his but and he won't be able to buck as easy😁

The ride was going so very nicely up to that point, and in my opinion it went very well after. Good job Gabby!

Your a worrier Gabby, you gell off *On your BACK* and still got right back on! Great work!! I'd that was me and Blaze(My flea bitten grey Arab gelding) would have spent him my horse in circles until he learned his lesson. Which I have had to do before. And it taught him pretty quick. I've fell on my head then rolled into my back in a full gallop *OF AN ARABIAN* , it hurt my back for about a week but not my head for some odd reason. Lol. *But* the Arabian is a very loyal horse bc when if fell, he came right back to me and made sure I was okay, I love my horse, wouldn't give the world for him. Great job Gabby, hope to see you on your horse soon! Would love to see ur bond in action once agian!!😄👍🐎🌟💕 Me and Gabby would get along pretty well I'm 13 shes...12? 13? Lol idek!😂😂

Those grey breeches must be super good quality, Gabby wears them almost every lesson and they're still holding up
