Daylilies Get More Blooms

Today I'm going to demonstrate how to deadhead your daylilies for more blooms during the entire growing season. We'll also learn to identify seed pods and discuss removal. Is this the right time to fertilize your daylilies? We'll discuss this and more!

Mine are just setting bloom in late May. I'm in 9b, full sun, so I guess fertilizer is the problem

Nice, but I'm getting rid of my day lillies and replacing them with echinacea' s . My day lillies are pretty, but I want blooms all summer, not just for a few weeks.

I'm sure echinacea will be a wonderful addition to your garden. Maybe your can keep a few day lilies for spring interest. Mine bloom several times through the summer.

Please show us an update if you get new blooms, I’ve done this with one of mine which isn’t a reblooming variety and have never had more blooms from it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Probably has to do with the type of daylily you have. Get some reblooming varieties.

What do you do about mosquitos? We can’t enjoy gardening due to mosquitos in central tx. :(

Make sure you have all standing water around your property dumped out. I spray myself with mosquito repellant before I head outside.

I put those 6tf tall little torches out with a mosquito repellant in them and it seems to be the best way. And definitely get rid of any standing water. Mosquitos are the devil!

I have daylilies with green foliage but they show no signs of blooms. Any suggestions?

Try adding some balanced organic fertilizer around the base. Water in well. Maybe they are starved for food.

Deer ate my flowers off before it could open. Should I cut the whole stem off.

Deer love Daylilies. I grow mine in the backyard only. I would dig them up and put them in a safer place.

The beautiful Vermont Tasha Tudor gardens are absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, we have very different soil and climate here in Central Texas. We will take thugs and ratty any day! Just trying to get something to grow here.
