Thanks for the tips. I am filling my gardens with daylilies, watching them bloom and label stakes and put in beside them. I'd like to have daylilies blooming right through the summer!

Last year, I planted many day lilies in containers and left them there over the winter. Now they are all coming up and I live in zone 5 in New Hampshire. I'll leave them in the containers again this year. I also planted many more this year, again in containers. You can place your container anywhere in your garden to create a nice focal point.

I grow daylilies and this year have given away 2 wheelbarrels full of them and still have plenty. This year I will take pictures of them as I forget what color is planted in some groups . My plan is to get them organized this year in order to enjoy them to their fullest.

Sounds like they are stressed. Are they getting enough water? Also, try a product like 'Mor-bloom'. Check with your local garden center to see if they have any advice or products that might help.

I just planted 2 day lilys, just beautiful flowers, but after I planted it the flower closed up. Is it maybe in shock , will it open again?
@GardenTime9 жыл бұрын
Kelly Borushynski It might be shock, but it also might be a quick bloomer. They are called Daylilies because most of the flowers last only a day or so.

The buds you are seeing are not buds, but rather seed pods. If you remove the seed pods from the scape(stem) the plants are more likely to re-bloom. This should be especially true for stella-de oro, which is a consistent re-bloomer. Also, If you wish to collect the seeds you should wait for the seed pods to turn brown and then let the seeds dry in a cool place for a week or two. The seeds will not be the same plant, (genetics) but, they will produce daylilies! Good Luck Growing!
