2nd of 4 videos from the EBC trek - filmed in Oct. 2021. Toilet demonstration and a film crew from India was filming a movie near Namche Bazaar while we were there. We absolutely loved this trek!
We used Adventures Within Reach for this trek. We have used them for most of our worldwide adventures and they are excellent! We highly recommend them!

The best meals and accommodations I have ever seen from many other EBC Trek videos. The video is very scenic. While the trek was uneasy but you made the video so enjoyable to look at.

The best meals and lodges are from Pangboche and lower. Above that, they were the same as everyone else's. I'm glad the video is enjoyable, as I was trying to show what the trek is really like.

Thank you! We live around 4,500 feet elevation with mountains around us, so we hike to the top of one twice a week. We also work out at the gym 3 times per week with weights. If you're reasonable fit, you can do this, and I hope you will! It's not too hard. The elevation was the hardest part. I hope you go see this beautiful country!

Is Tengboche to Dengboche the most difficult part of the trek? I have to watch it again and again in order to remember all those wondrous sceneries.
@TaterTrails
@TaterTrails 2 жыл бұрын
No, Tengboche to Dengboche was not the most difficult part. Namche Bazaar to Tengboche was very steep, which made it difficult, but the most difficult was Loboche to Gorek Shep and Base Camp. (If I spelled those wrong, I apologize.)

@TaterTrails
@TaterTrails Жыл бұрын
Thank you, Jonny! We do our best to always be kind. We used the company "Adventures Within Reach" based out of the U.S., and we paid a little bit more for the luxury version of the trek. There wasn't anything "luxury" from Dingboche and up though. It was mainly on the lower parts of the mountain, but it was worth it.

hi, i am actually planning to do EBC trek next year around September or October. could you advise on the layers to be worn on the different days as we reach a certain elevations up? and also what would be your advice on first-time trekker like me who is excited about this journey ?
@victorecholima
@victorecholima 2 жыл бұрын
do we need to pre book our lodge stays?
@TaterTrails
@TaterTrails 2 жыл бұрын
September or October is a great time to do the trek. We wore shorts up to Namche Bazaar, then hiking pants the rest of the way up. Thin, long sleeve, wicking shirts were great up to Loboche, then I wore a merino wool shirt the rest of the way up. Keep a rain jacket and a fleece layer accessible the whole way. You do need a parka, hat, and gloves for the high elevation areas. It gets really cold. Advice? Hike any mountains you can this summer to prepare, work out, and exercise in any way you can. Walk a lot. Take lots of pictures and ENJOY the trek! It is an adventure of a lifetime!
@TaterTrails
@TaterTrails 2 жыл бұрын
@@victorecholima Our lodge stays were pre-booked with our travel agent. If you're not using a guide service, then yes, I would recommend pre-booking you lodging. Higher on the mountain, lodges are very limited and they fill up.

Why did you go up via Tengboche when there is a much more impressive high trail on the opposite side of the valley? The Mong La - Phortse - Pangpoche High Scenic Trail offers much more amazing views, lots of wildlife like musk deer and Himalayan tahr, and practically no other trekkers. Tengboche can be visited on the way down.
@TaterTrails
@TaterTrails 2 жыл бұрын
We didn't know about it.....just trusted our guide. But, perhaps someone that hasn't gone yet will see your comment and look into doing that. Thanks for the tips!

@@TaterTrails I knew... For historical reasons practically all guides take trekkers up through Tengpoche, but then also come down the same route just for convenience, in a hurry to get down to Lukla as fast as possible. Already for several decades I have wondered why people do not go up using an alternate more impressive route, and visit Tengpboche on the way down. The Phortse High Trail is slightly slower, but on the way up there is plenty of time anyway. Some big name western companies have started using the High Scenic Trail a few yours ago but Nepalese agencies and guides are not known for innovation. I comment these videos precisely because I want to spread the word, but next time you go try the High Trail...

The prayer flags aren’t quite right…yes blue is sky (and space) and yellow earth but white is air and wind, red is fire and green is water..
@TaterTrails
@TaterTrails Жыл бұрын
Thanks for pointing that out. I just stated what our mountain guide said. Our city guide told us a completely different version of what the flags mean, different than yours or the version I mentioned. It seems to vary a bit between the locals.

Do you have your personal guide and porter?
@TaterTrails
@TaterTrails 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, we had one guide for the two of us, but we had two porters due to this being a "luxury trek". One porter carried our duffel bags and the other carried the oxygen and hyperbaric chamber. We never used those things, but they were included in the package.
