The developers said they removed all of the sections of the game where you had to choose between two options for...a more curated, streamlined story experience? Whatever the devspeak term is that means "to hit deadlines". Anyway, that's probably why there's a disconnect between cutscenes and gameplay - they just jammed bits together from separate story paths and called it a day.

6:19 - Deacon is played by Sam Witwer. Music is from Nathan Whitehead. Jim, during this entire interview, the only "name" you bring up for criticism or praise is Sony. I really think this is a problem among game reviewers. You'd never see a movie review do that; imagine a review of Raiders of the Lost Ark that constantly referred to Paramount but never once mentioned Spielberg, Lucas, John Williams, or Harrison Ford. If you're wondering why the AAA studios have such power over the artists in the AAA industry, there's one reason right there. Even Jim-Fucking-Sterling, a huge proponent of employee rights (thank God for him), talks about the game as coming from a company, not created by people. I'm not saying crediting the voice actors, lead developers, composers, etc. by name will suddenly turn the industry around, but it couldn't hurt. The only way the artists will get more credit in this industry is if people give them more credit.

I actually really like the idea of a game where a machine is your lifeline and you need to maintain it. The closest game that has come to it is Jalopy, but I also had a lot of fun with a mod for STALKER that added the necessity to reload magazines from boxes of ammo and introduced more realistic ammunition weights. It did increase the babysitting of the game, but it also added the extra dimension of planning the kind of ammo loads that you might need for an expedition, leaving caches of loaded mags so that you can find them if you need them, etc.

Eh. At a glance this looks like a game I would pickup for $20. Seems like it has limited replay value. Which is fine if it has an amazing story, which so far people have been saying it... is just okay. So for me that leaves gameplay, and honestly I don’t see anything with this that strikes me as “I must have this”.

You know, for a game where you need to refuel every so often, you would think there would be an upgrade for your motorcycle that allows you to carry gas cans so you don't have to go searching for fuel every time you get low. Maybe that will be in a DLC or something. You know, so they have something to sell you post-launch. Even though it should have been in the game from the start.

So this is what Sony tried to hype up during multiple E3 press conferences? From the studio that brought you Bubsy 3D and the PlayStation Vita Uncharted titles comes an open world zombie survival Uncharted/Last of Us-wannabe. Better give this lots of attention during our press conferences.

This game has been in development long enough that it's probably not copying red dead redemption 2. It has not been out long enough. So it's an ok zombie survival game that missed the trend by a few years? Shame. This is probably the penultimate exclusive for ps4 so I was expecting something better. Honestly at this point Sony has built a fanbase that will buy and defend anything they put out. If it serviceable it will sell well.

I don't think it's too hard to add music during a game play sequence. So yeah they may have added it after seeing it done by RDR2 but RDR also did it in their game so whatever I don't really care if they did copy just wanted to make a point because I'm pretentious.
