I love the way all your children pitch in and help out with the cleaning. These are skills that will really help them in their adult lives. This reminded me of when I used to pick dewberries and muscadines with my Mom. You’re making memories 💕Your choice of music is so uplifting! Love all your berry picking! I miss those days. My children are grown and I am disabled now (MS). So my berry picking days are in the past but I have fond memories of those times. I loved seeing my canning jars in the counter cooling such a sence of accomplishment! Enjoyed this day with you!

I was thrilled when I was able to introduce my daughter-in-love to A Girl of the Limberlost and Freckles. We had an unusual amount of butterflies and moths in our area this past spring, and my grandchildren had so much fun trying to identify them. My daughter-in-love helped them capture some caterpillars and observe them form their crysalides and then their metamorphosis into butterflies! I mentioned how I had learned (as an adult) to see the beauty in this whole process when I read A Girl of the Limberlost. To my delight, she loved them as much as I did!

It is so nice to see your children pitching in with the cleaning! You as a mom and your entire family spend so much time together having fun, hiking, cleaning, etc. Whatever comes along be it chores or family fun you all are there as a family together. I used to make fruit jam using the low sugar pectin! I would use the very least amount of sugar possible and loved the results! It tasted more like the fruit instead of just sugar!!!!

Congratulations on getting a clothesline! My son gave me the old one in his yard, but I haven’t gotten it set up yet. I’m excited to use it. I use the same pectin for my jams. For the berry(maybe not blueberry, though) jams I make, I use the freezer jam recipe. If you try using the freezer jam recipe, you will be amazed at how much fresher and yummier it tastes! Several years ago my husband and I were able to go to the park in Indiana where A Girl Of The Limberlost was set. It was Gene Stratton Porter’s land and it was very beautiful.

Use Pamona's pectin for making jam so you can add the sugar amount you want

I make clothespin bags that are on a hanger, so you can move it along the lines as you hang up clothes. I go to thrift stores and find cute sleeveless or short sleeved toddler dresses. A size 3 is about the perfect size. Sew up the bottom, remove buttons from the back, fold the opening back and sew each side of the opening so your hand can easily fit in the resulting hole. Find an old hanger hang the dress on it. Then hand tack the shoulders of the dress to the hanger. Helps if the hanger has a swivel type of hook at the top, but an old wire hanger works, just bend the hook so the bag hangs so you can easily get the clothespins out as you hang the clothes. They make fun gifts for those of us who like to hang out clothes.

If you use Pomona's Universal Pectin you can use honey instead of sugar in your jam. I do that every summer and the jam is absolutely delicious!

I love hanging my clothes outside. I like how fresh they smell. Those are the sure jelly I use, low sugar, it comes out really good. I like it better because you taste the fruit more, it's not as sweet.

I love hanging my clothes outdoors all summer. It is the thing I miss most in the colder months. On the hot days, they dry so quickly. I can fold and sort each person’s clothing right away and then just put them in their rooms. And they dry so nicely outside. I hang most of our clothes on a line in our basement during the cold months, but they take so long to dry. Summer is best!
