Greetings from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA. If the holiday is based in Christianity (Christmas, Easter) or colonialism (Thanksgiving, Columbus Day), I do not celebrate it. But long ago, I did celebrate the pagan roots of some days, wanting to get back to roots. Back when I was married, we renamed Thanksgiving ... calling it Friendsgiving, a celebration of friends and community. You are right in that there are nuances and complexities we should understand. I grew up Catholic in the 1950s-60s. I left it all as a young man. I was so angry for a while. But, I do see that this is not just about religion. These are communities ... ways that people share, connect, bond. It's not for me to judge.

Day of the dead/samhain was also important to the Taino tribe as well! They honored their ancestors on that day.

How is it woke? It's a well documented fact that all "christian" holidays were originally pagan holidays. The pine tree, decorations etc were all pagan in origin. The anti-woke snowflakes are ridiculous people.
