He's supposed to be an England fan then let him focus on England and English more things like Robert Jenrick said today. Here are 10 of world shaping things of which i have literally hundreds more! >>> John Harrison Invented the world's first marine chronometer, a timepiece which solved the problem of calculating longitude at sea. He was honoured in 2006 with the dedication of a stone at Westminster Abbey in London. He is also known for the Grasshopper Escapement and Gridiron Pendulum in clock making. Thomas Hawksley Modern water supply systems and the first pressurized clean water supply available at the turn of a tap. It also saved many lives from Cholera. He received knighthoods and tributes from Sweden, Denmark, Brazil, and around the world for solving their water problems. [See the splendid in-depth article on him from WaterWorld - an online news and technology resource serving engineers, managers, and consultants in the municipal water industry worldwide]. Sir John Fowler Engineer for the world's first underground railway; the London's Metropolitan Railway. He was also Chief Engineer for the Forth Bridge in Scotland that connects Fife and Edinburgh in partnership with fellow English Engineer Benjamin Baker. "He was a Victorian engineer who was responsible for the world’s first underground railway (the Metropolitan in London); he was also chief engineer for the Forth Railway Bridge. Fowler transformed this Highland landscape over 30 years, planting 9 million trees and building the suspension bridge over the River Droma here in 1874." - National Trust for Scotland website When it was first constructed it was regarded as the eighth wonder of the world. "He designed a number of bridges - including the Grosvenor Bridge, which carried the first railway across the Thames - and designed Victoria Station in London and stations in Glasgow, Sheffield, Liverpool and Manchester Central Station, including the 64m-wide train shed roof was the second widest unsupported steel arch in the country, after the roof of St Pancras Station." - Undiscovered Scotland website Frederick Lanchester Disc Brakes. But apart from this innovation he was a God in the motoring industry: "out of the 36 primary features found in the modern car, Lanchester was responsible for inventing 18." - [from Irish Times newspaper on this great Englishman of a now archived article from their resident motoring historian Bob Montgomery] Bernard Spilsbury Modern Forensics and the Murder Bag. His techniques revolutionized how Pathology works today. The "murder bag" was a specialized bag containing protective gear and tools to handle and retrieve evidence such as rubber gloves, tweezers, forceps, a magnifying glass, compass, ruler, and cotton swabs. John Howard Prison reformer. His legacy is felt all over the world. He became the first citizen to have a statue in St. Paul's Cathedral. John Wesley [founder of the Methodist church] paid tribute to him as ‘one of the greatest men in Europe’. His work had influence as far afield as Germany, America and Russia. Michael Faraday. His Faraday Cage was a constructed metal container in 1836 that blocked out electromagnetic radiation. The Faraday Cage concept is used in various things today, from homes and office buildings to automobiles and aircraft. They are used in MRI machines and pacemakers, as well as in electronics laboratories, to isolate sensitive equipment from outside interference. Isaac Newton He changed the way we understand the universe by discovering the Laws of Gravity and Motion. He also invented the Reflecting Telescope and invented Calculus. Sophie Wilson For her amazing work for Acorn computers and the BBC Microcomputer. She co-invented with Englishman Steve Furber the ARM processor: "The ARM processor core now used in thousands of different products, from mobile phones and tablets to digital televisions and video games. The number of ARM processor cores now shipped exceeds 30 billion, or more than four ARM microprocessors for every person on earth" - CHM (computer history museum) on Sophie Wilson Joseph Aspdin Modern Cement. He called it Portland Cement, due to the similar colour quarried on the English Isle of Portland off the Dorset coast. His use of limestone and clay led to a process that eventually became a powder that mixed with water would Set and become Concrete.

My awakening came in the early 2000s. The vast majority of the British people were against the war in Iraq but Tony Blair, ignoring those he was supposed to serve, took the country into an illegal war. What a betrayal of the people and democracy. I can remember hoping that Blair would announce ‘I am the PM of a democracy and my people have spoken so I cannot take this country to war’. He said the opposite and it was that moment I realised democracy is an illusion.

your figures are not right. Reform got more votes than the Lib dems and while Reform only got 5 seats in Parliament, Live dems got about 70. Labour got more votes but less than what the Tories got in the previous election. Apart from that, the FPTP system does not return the number of seats representing the support in the country. That would require proportional representation but the problem with PR is that it returns coalitions and Parliament never gets anything achieved because they never agree on anything
