PLEASE READ THIS
I am making more and more effort in recovery, and pushing harder than I ever have.
I am proud of what I achieved in this video, and I am also proud to say I am doing even better now than here (which is crazy). I want to document the whole of my recovery. I hope you like the video...
WE GOT ICE CREAMS! IT IS OFFICIALLY STARTING TO FEEL A LITTLE SUMMER-EY! What a beautiful day it was, Blaze loved the swans and ducks of course.
I had falafels for the first time (well, pakora, but I think they're the same - anyway, they were delicious!). Satara made panna cotta! She is so amazing! I also discovered how incredible pretzels are dipped in melted biscoff.
Then on Friday I made the most AMAZING lunch honestly it was so good I am still not over it, and it was a very different lunch for me. I then panicked after (lol w h y) but Dad saved the day again. We took blaze to play fetch, and enjoyed the great beauty of being by the sea. And I am glad I challenged myself and panicked, because every single day is a day you live and also learn. Also I realise after I panic how silly it is and actually the next time I can get myself out of it or am actually able to realise I am being irrational.
Panicked after lunch but went on to have pizza for dinner - winnnnnnnninggg! I also had the most beautiful mocha ice cream y u m (it really was, you should try it).
Another vid like this up soon, a part 2 perhaps..?

Look who cares if she talks for 10 minutes. .... as long as she eats and finishes her food. I know she is further along in her recovery now but goodness sake, you people were so overly opinionated on her journey like you were the only who had her eating disorder

In this video, for the first time since I've started watching your channel, you just eat: you don't talk about the food, don't ask your mum, don't smell it, don't start eating after your mum, you just go for the food and eat it. I'm so fucking proud of you, I know it takes a lot of balls to do that and I really, really appreciate it. Keep going Elzani, my heart is with you and your lovely family💗

I know you know this but I want to let you know anyway in case you have forgotten: 1) You don’t need to ask for permission to eat 2) You don’t need your mums approval before you eat 2) You don’t need to be the last to start eating/finish eating 4) You don’t need to eat the least amount or the same amount as others 5) You don’t need to do anything your head tells you to do Listen to everything your head says, then do the opposite. Much love. X

Thank you for that statement! Now, I am going to watch the rest of your video, but that really spoke a lot to me and I wanted to thank you! keep up the good work elzani! with my ed recovery ive learned- if it's difficult, then you're on the right path! you need to keep consciously challenging yourself constantly to stay on top of your recovery💜 it is SO easy to fall back into disordered eating if you dont actively push your boundaries! when you're starting to feel comfortable, that means you need to push yourself more! wish you all the best💖

@@elzani6744 Thankyou for showing recovery in all its reality - I think its important. A lot of the popular recovery channels make it look like a walk in the park. My friend's 13 year old sister said to her " ED recovery looks like fun - i'd like to do it". omg. horrifying message to young people. its not all fun challenges and getting lots of attention. Eating disorders are lonely, isolating and living hell, recovery is hard, but you're doing it and you will get there. - amazing girl, there's an amazing life waiting for you on the other side of this. You may not be able to see it yet, but it will all fall into place. big love

Some little reminders for you ❤️: -food/experiences don’t always have to be ‘new’ or the ‘first time’ -you can choose what YOU want to eat, you don’t have to have what others do -you don’t need to ask other people for permission to eat/how much to eat/what to eat -you don’t have to be the last to start & finish eating -you HAVE to eat more than your family, not the same amount -adding drinks like juice, milkshakes, smoothies are healthy and dense ways to get more calories into each meal -recovery isn’t linear, you’ll challenge one behaviour/fear and 3 more will spring up in its place. It takes extreme amounts of strength and perseverance, but you got this 💪🏼

You're doing so well, trying new things. I know that's probably really hard. I dont think I've seen you try this, but maybe try protein or high calorie shakes with every meal. I hear some of them are quite nice, and it'll be a good way to boost your calorie intake a bit more. You have a long way to go, but you're definitely trying to move in the right direction. Keep going, Beautiful soul.... Oh, and I love your whole family, but I love the special little moments you show, with your dad. He clearly loves you dearly, and knows exactly what you need.

hi elzani! have you spoken to anyone about ocd, but isolated ocd, not alongside an eating disorder directly? it’s not at all my place to say or suggest really, but i wanted to mention because it seems as though you’re much better when dealing with eating, fear foods, normal foods, etc, and a lot of your issues seem to stem directly from ocd, (and potentially a mixture of other things). the ways you eat and fixate on types of food like the spiral pasta versus penne, everything being the first or last time for someone to do or be or eat something, i wonder if you spoke to someone mainly about these tendencies and fears (that do tie to anorexia but the wires can definitely cross), if that would help you. you don’t appear to be on any medication (key word appear) so if that’s something you’re not opposed to, i would look into that as well. not all are created the same but for folks like you and i, sometimes they’re really vital even just for a short interim period. anyway, i really think you should consider speaking to a psychiatrist regularly and not just about anorexia. i say all of this because i’ve experienced very similar things and it’s almost like i can see the invisible barrier between you currently, and where you know you want to be. the clips with your dad were really lovely to watch! he seems to be a bit abrasive sometimes but if that doesn’t bother you, forget anyone’s comments. you are doing incredibly well with the food as well. best best wishes from london x

Also, Elzani, do you notice how often you say you are rubbish? Language is powerful! Try saying to yourself you are going to kick butt at so and so before you even try it. If you can’t do it, say “I am tenacious and won’t quit!” I’ve promised myself this year to quit shooting myself in the foot with the toxic environment I’ve created in my head from self doubt and self loathing. We need a new dialogue in our brains! 🦵🧠 🤛 I’m going to try painting my disease and then painting my future. Art and music work miracles. We must allow joy to blow freely into our lives. It’s our time when we claim it to be ours. I will always be here if you need anything.

Oh! Another thingn i would really recommend you to practice some coping skills and have them on hand when you need them. What you take did was distraction/vacation, meaning you shifted to a different (and much calmer) environment and distracted yourself (by playing with your dog) so you just naturally calmed down because you weren't in "danger" anymore (you start to hyperventilate when you forget to breathe or breathe too much because of anxiety so your brain things its in danger). Some coping skills: Go for a mindful walk Pace breathing (practice different patterns of breathing and/or deep breathing) SOOTHE (involves your 5 senses) Temperature (holding a bag of ice, splashing face with cold water, drinking something warm or cold, etc) Drawing Listening to music Journaling The list goes on and it really just depends on what helps you. Feel free to ask questions if you need 🤗 Love you so much 💖💖

What I see here is what I saw in myself through recovery. This vid in particular is a real demonstration effort and success in this fight🏆😀. But in short also, why I think your intake might’ve dropped 😥👎 - I’ll try and explain my point below (as it might help me too). Contrary to what most may believe the main issue is: ’to challenge new food combinations’. …Whilst trying ‘first-time’ fear foods is great and a healthy thing to do, for me personally it would probably amount to less than what I would’ve eaten ‘more routinely’? @Elzani (and others also?) Do you see that reflected in your food snacks at all? I found what helped me most was to focus challenging my intake , and for me navigating this successfully actually meant to base eating around the meals the family and I were more accustomed to having-please understand this is a fine thing to do, it is in no way ‘giving in’- and to then be trying new things as ‘extras’ afterwards rather than ‘swaps’ or substitutions really helped. To have one (big) challenge, rather than challenging every experience I had with food not only prevented ‘wobbles’ or ‘drops in intake’ but also saved a lot of mental recourse. Recovered, but Stronger by the day, Myst 💪💪xxxx

Example of my above method: If a crumpet is ‘new’ then have your night snack of chocolate, and later come back for a try of the crumpet (you then also needn't feel you have to eat the whole thing, nor struggle afterwards with possible feelings that you should’ve eaten something you may have enjoyed more). Just my experience, my ‘two cents’. May help X

I am not sure why, but when you tasted the panna cota and looked at your sister to say 'it's nice' I felt a knot in my throat and started crying. Many times I get frustrated at you, but all unintentional and out of concern, I do understand and relate to your feelings and struggles. That is why I barely comment. I just want to say this though: I love you, I believe in you and I proud of you. I really, with all my heart, hope you can say those things about yourself as well, you do deserve it. Much love always.💜

My goodness, the inspiration is at its peak right now, im so inspired! You can really see the improvement Elzani. You took the advice that your subscribers kept seeing in you by eating your food without talking too much and having 'bigger' portions. Also, the part with your Dad encouraging you was absolutely beautiful, you can really see how proud he is of you, just keep going and you'll get there in no time. Just like you said, youre FEARLESS AND AMAZING, We love you and support you Elzani, thank you for sharing your experiences with us. ♡♡

Another great vlog. You are SO lucky to have a mum dad and sisters to support you. Ive always dealt with my ed alone and sucess or fail was and is purely down to me. So be grateful for your lovely family. Its so much harder to do it alone. So proud of you.xxx

You are not your eating disorder. You're a funny, talented, and caring woman. Focus on what makes you YOU. Playing your guitar, laughing with family, walking the dogs, loving life and enjoying every moment. Food is only a small part of life that's there to be enjoyed and sustain you. i think you should consider therapy. Anxiety like this will always find something to focus on, be it food or something else to tear you down. I found therapy was a great resource when I was struggling. I would also HIGHLY suggest medication to get you through the worst of your ED recovery. I was on Anti-depressants and anxiety medication and it made it so I no longer focused in an OCD way on food and the negative voice in my head (that's anxiety and OCD!) went away.
