Man this video brought back some great memories. Back in the late 50's and early 60's, my mum would make this same breakfast for me and my brother during the cold winter months. She called it "egg toast" with molasses. At some point she started buying real maple syrup which made it even better. I suddenly wanted to make a quick ride down to the market for supplies in order to cook up a batch for my son's on New Year's day. Thanks for bringing back great memories.

Glad it triggered memories and yes maple syrup goes so very well with French toast. After I edited that video yesterday, I had to make French toast this morning lol.

Man that looks like a great breakfast. This chemist advises three small rinses rather than one big rinse. Solubility equilibrium. 😊

I'll keep that in mind. Still only give the cast iron a wipe. DNA from every meal I've ever cooked still in the pan.

Keeping it simple .. I have switched to instant coffee for my vacuum bottle and morning brew, not as tasty as fresh ground but adequate. I still haven't tried the liquid eggs .. something new to try in 2025. Happy new year Jim.
@OldGuyonaBike18 күн бұрын
I only discovered liquid eggs a couple of years ago while sharing a campsite. You can't always get the "whole eggs" but they are certainly better than just "egg whites". Never have to worry about breaking the eggs. I've found those drip through filters the easiest to clean up. I don't always do too much simple.

She's got lots of life left in her. I did not like parting with mine. I had 230,000 km on her when I had my accident.

great breakfast i will remember the way you cooked it.on another note your box on the back is it on 1in tubing or alum flat bar yes another stolen idea thanks and happy new year my you tube friend
@OldGuyonaBike18 күн бұрын
Yes, the back box is just not wide enough to straddle the rails so I mounted it on 1" aluminum tubing so I could use U-bolts to attach it to the rails.
@harrynewton643718 күн бұрын
@ thanks just needed to know I looked at both u bolts are the best choice in case need to remove I was going to bolt on
@OldGuyonaBike18 күн бұрын
@@harrynewton6437 The rails are very thin. I would never drill a hole through them and put a bolt through. U-bolts work great. Don't over tighten.

I was going to offer some cynical comment about the deep-fried French Toast... but as it looked darn good, So, I decided to refrain. However, you know well that someone worked hard to raise those coffee beans. They were picked at precisely the right moment then roasted to the perfect blend. Packaged and lovingly sent to your part of the world. From the tropics to the far off (but beautiful) Rock of Newfoundland. And to that wonderful morning concoction you add powdered milk? Powdered milk that has languished only God knows where for perhaps decades, before making its way to the beautiful setting of your camp. And you added powdered milk to your coffee? As a good friend of many years and several marriages is prone to say " you think you know a guy... then bam". Perhaps, just perhaps it was a lingering bit of dementia from the Bangor incident. I'll try to make myself believe that. "Bam" keeps ringing through my mind.
@OldGuyonaBike18 күн бұрын
lol, I had the skim milk powder along for bannock. I will admit that I regretted the use of it and should have warned people in the video to not follow my bad example. Ever since I have opted for black coffee if in the same situation.
