My McVay 16 Falcon (1968) has a glassed floor, continuous with the seats, which does use up room because the interior is not as deep. I have a lot of foam in the bow, lightly glassed in. I don't want to take all of it out but eventually I have to cut way more ports into areas I cannot reach. You have a beautiful cruising ground & you can tell at the launch that the water is nice.

@@FlatlandMando the Falcon 16 looks very similar to the ODay Ospray also 16’. The foam helps with flotation should there be a capsize. I’ve seen some people remove old waterlogged foam and replace with the liquid kind. One guy filled his bench seats and ballast with pool noodles. I let the water drain out and plugged the drain holes. Will unplug when I haul out. Yes, Narragansett Bay is large enough and pretty much protected harbor providing for long hours of sailing. Weather permitting that is.

I picked up some oar locks from sawyer for my 1965 Ospray. And 10 foot used oars. It goes pretty fast rowing.

Great channel. I have a 1983 spindrift daysailer 1 which is basically the same as an oday. I'm here in MN on the St. Croix River - soon it will be warm enough to go out again! I'm going to use this time to put some inspection ports, one under each seat and one in the bow compartment, to make sure the flotation material is OK and likely add more. Mine did not come with any floor boards. I recently got some cockpit cushions and I"m going to try to make some floorboards like you have too. They are fun little boats. Where are you located? I love your enthusiasm for sailing! Keep making videos.

My home port is in Rhode Island. My late brother was a Navy Veteran, he got me into sailing and I love it. I have a list of jobs to do on my ODay. I do have concerns about moisture in the bench seat foam… I try to film my upgrades. Thanks for watching

I forget if you talked about this before. Did you remove the foam from under the seats and bow? I had well over 100 pounds of soaked foam I removed, Replaced with water bottles

Not yet. There’s small drain holes but I suspect there must be more moisture that I could not drain out. So how did you do it? Did you cut out an inspection port or used another method?

Is it possible to reef the sails on that boat?

Yes it is if you have reef points on your sail. Or can just partially raise is and roll and tie down the end but reefing points would be better
