This made me emotional as well. Watched all your tutorial videos and they really helped me a lot since I passed my flight attendant interview by the last months of 2019. Unfortunately, my training has been cancelled due to the pandemic. It has been hard coz I was really looking forward to finally live my dream job. I'm accepting things as life continues to happen but I still have high hopes that I get to be a flight attendant in the near future. Thank you for sharing and inspiring Ms. Kath and stay safe everyone!! 💕

Something similar happened to me long time ago, when I had 8 years flying here in this side of the world, but you know what...I still take advantage of all I learned in this industry, I am now 34 years in Aviation, founded my own Cabin Crew School, my daughter was a Qatar Airways Cabin Crew just like you, my son is a Pilot and I started my Aviation School with just USD180.00 and now 20 years later I am a successful lady, with two wonderful kids, but I am still doing what I love, I teach Hazmat, Fisiology, and Cabin crew new generations, I still live doing my best but at another level. Try something Kath, don´t be disapointed, things happen because of something, but is in you to find the way to continue enjoying aviation world. Keep Flying high. Don´t ever stop looking forward. Sincerely,

I am watching this video almost three years later May 2023, and it made me very emotional because obviously you needed a closure event to be able to love on. That year (2020) was very difficult for many people, especially for airline’s staff. Also, the end of this video was very graceful and professional. I’m was so glad you were so appreciative of all the things you were able to accomplish during your employment with Qatar Airways. That was very humble and professional of you, and I’m curious about what are you doing now because if I were a manager with Qatar, I would definitely offer you a ground job in your country. Qatar should be proud of you as an employee, and they should want such good, professional and grateful employee. I will start watching your videos to see if I can get up to date with your life events after the fact. Bravo…!

Ate Kath, isa ka po sa mga naging guide ko when I was applying as an FA back in 2019. Fortunately, I was hired! Over 500 applicants, we were only 5 who made the cut and were able to sign a contract. Sadly, it was put on hold due to the pandemic. Nevertheless, I'm still grateful I have proven myself that I can make it. Thank you for being so generous with your pieces of advice! Had I not watched your vlogs esp. on how to answer (and nail it) during the interview, i won't be able to pass. Thanks a lot, ate Kath! God bless you on your new journey.

Btw, I was in quarantine in Doha for 2 months after catching corona on a flight I operated and 10 days after releasing I got the call. I changed my career and now I’m in Europe happy safe and sure not depressed. They also kicked many of my colleagues bcs of Covid randomly. Be strong and this is not the end. God saved you. I randomly came across this video and watched it in the middle of the night because I couldn't sleep. I'm so happy I found you, your sweet accent reminds me of my Philippino nurse colleagues and even though I'm not a cabin crew and didn't experience what you did, I felt a little your nostalgia for moving onto your new (exciting!) phase in your life and leaving your job which was a big part of your identity as for similar reasons I've decided to (temporarily or permanently?) leave my career as a nurse to fully enjoy my maternity, so team mum here, supporting you 100%! Here’s my 2 cents... It’s ok to ask why Qatar (or any company for that matter) let you go. The way you were let go is illegal, to a point without so much so a clear baseline on the grounds for termination of employment. Aviation industry is seniority driven in every aspect from trip schedule bidding, vacation and even in a pandemic it has to be the last ones in, first ones out. It’s just the way it is (no offense to junior flight attendants- I am one too so I’ve got back up plans A B C D) . If this is not followed by @QatarAirways, then what was their basis? This is not the way to treat 8 years of dedicated service and I’ve been watching your videos and it shows how much passion and love Kath has for this airline and the industry. The pandemic has gotten the best of us myself being furloughed for 3 months but the silver lining in it is that we got our jobs back. I wish you all the best Kath. And congratulations to you and your family on your 2nd baby. I wish @QatarAirways would’ve done things differently.. possibly allow you to go on an unpaid leave until the restrictions are lifted or until you are ready to rest your wings permanently. That is the least they could’ve done. ❤️❤️American Airlines FA❤️❤️

@@nanina2034it was Covid lockdowns times and all QR flights are international and the world was shutting down. What? Do you think the airline representative should have flown personally to meet each employee one by one over lunch to tell them the grim news, when even travelling was near impossible??? C’mon!! I wish they have gone by seniority and let go the recent employees first. On the other hand I say someone who just started their dream should made out to live it over the more senior. I don’t know the right answer here. I just don’t

Hi Kath! This is really heartbreaking, the company where we are giving our precious 8 long years of precious life and getting terminated in such inhumane manner is indeed something that we never expected from a reputed company. QA should learn so many things from Tata company of India which has really taken a good care of employees. Even of those who died during this pandemic.

When everyone (or almost everyone) that works for a company is excellent, sometimes the choice of who to let go during restructuring really does have to be kind of random and not connected to anyone doing anything wrong or not being good enough. I lost a job that I was considering quitting when they restructured, and it stings to hear those words that you can't come back. But I hope you were comforted in knowing you did amazing work, that people who worked with you enjoyed the experience of knowing you, and that this was ordained for a reason and it will work out long-term possibly better than your original plans would have (for example, it already gave you lots of extra time with family when you recorded this). Thank you for sharing. I can tell those emotions regarding everything were still a bit tender in this video. I hope it has continued to get easier for you to look back on how it happened and remember it with peace and even laughter, and that your words were encouraging to others who experienced something similar. 😊

Previously I flew with Delta, but I absolutely loved flying with Qatar. On my way back to SA this January the cabin crew asked for a nurse or doctor on board to assist with and emergency. Ms. Kath, I know how you feel. Been there as well. It takes guts and bravery to share this difficult story and I just want to hug you and the rest of the crew who got laid off in times of pandemic :( I’m grateful to have flown with you in a short flight somewhere in Pakistan while I was doing my 6 mos turnaround before I left

I have been watching your channel for so long since 2019. The first video is about How to make-up for the interview which I watched it. And I gained so many stuff about cabin crew just to prepare myself for the assessment day , but I never see this clip before. A few days ago, I was searching if you are still working with QR.. and I saw this clip by now. I want to say Thank You so much for all knowledges you gave it to me and I even thought about I want to fly with you once, but it won’t happen anymore. Btw, I want to tell you that this little lady already passed the final interview and I am waiting for the DOJ, after 2 years graduated, 3 times attempts (Dec-Feb) and the pandemic also. Now I am still watching for other clips as if I fly to be a trainee and what I need to prepare. Also, you are the one made me know that even you have your family but it could work to be a cabin crew anyway. So now… although you are not holding the wings but you could do the video such as your lifestyle, or traveling in PH. I would love to see, I used to go to PH once as well. Haha. Salamat po Ate Kath ❤️ I am a little one from TH 🇹🇭

Hey Kath, best of luck to you! Every end is just a new beginning. Also, if you don't mind could you tell how did the company let you to go on maternity leave? I saw several times that if crew member gets pregnant, she has to resign immediately. Was it an exception or how was it? Just very intresting to hear about this:)

It’s okay pinay I was a Senior airport service agent waited 6 months for the job to begin three months into the pandemic with Qatar airways the company laid me off due to “redundancy” 6 years in aviation quitting my job to come work for Qatar. But there’s always a positive outcome went back to school to get my degree one year left to graduate since going back last April 2020 and being laid off and now I got a job offer to work with corporate American Airlines a year later everything is meant for a reason sometimes better things are in place 🙏🏼ps I feel like I’ve seen you working a turn on the ground you’re so beautiful don’t be sad there’s better coming ahead 😍🥰

The genuine happiness radiates. It was a fruitful ride indeed with the company. A lot of stories to excite the kids and future grandkids. Looking forward to more vids about flying shenigans. 💓

I have great respect for you! This video left me teary eyed as I had similar emotions when I left Singapore after working there for 25 years, it means the job and your colleagues meant a lot to you. You obviously realised Qatar Airways has given you the opportunity to fulfill your dreams and for your family as well, all companies and jobs have politics, but it is good you didn't want to focus on that and respectfully highlight the good things the job has given to you. The job has given you the experience working with all kind of people which will surely help you in your future career in perhaps other kind of jobs, or you can start training new recruits.....I spoke to a young junior (at least junior with SQ, maybe she had to start all over again from the lower ranks) crew member from SQ in october on my flight AMS-SIN who was from QR and is now with them, perhaps also due to the pandemic she had to go....greetings from Indonesia and the Netherlands! Wish you success in your Life!

Why would you expose yourself by telling Colleagues you want to resign and then feel bad about it when the Company releases you! You made it too easy for them. You were picked to be let go because you wanted out. It’s Business & nothing personally.

Oh, I didn't hear Kat said that she told any of her colleagues that she was planning to resign. If that's the case, then that would be a bad idea because people will always talk, and her company to then let her go would make business sense. Still, after being with them for 8 years, Qatar Airways could have ended Kat's employment in a more respectful manner, and not by a cold phone call.

Very good attitude and words. I had the same experience just different job in Qatar. Lost my job as well due to structure .My heart was also very sad due to my excellent performance .Had lots of questions as well and same answers like you. It took me a fee months to get over it but I realize that at the end God will walk with as and He always provide for as. My fear and sadness got less and now I just move forward and try to stay possitive .I will make a success again! Monique

Well as a cabin crew for many years I know Its hard to say Goodbye. For me honestly flying life was fun, stress , laughing 24 hrs , layover with bestie but to end of this wonderful chapter was too shattered to accept. Flying for 7 years is not easy to forget all of memories meeting new friends. Only memories left footprint.

Kath, it's hard and it will take some time. You're been honest and don't feel ashamed if you cry. Those 8 years will always be in your heart. Nobody can take those memories away from you. You had plans to resign but you never aspected ro end that way and that's probably why it hurts so much. I worked for 21 years for the New York City Marathon. On March 2019 we're told the office was closing because of the pandemic. They kept us (with reduced hours until August and then we got furlough until January 20th 2021 when we finally got lay off. We knew that things where not good. I though I was prepared but when I got the email from HR, my heart sank. I cried. The memories of all those years and a closet with uniform jackets and shirts is only what is left. Are we ever get call back. I don't know. Because of my age it has been impossible to find a job (and yes, I believe there's age discrimination) You still young and have a long future ahead of you and the most important thing is that you have your family, your husband and your son with you. You'll be with them all the time and not between trips. You're also very beautiful and when this pandemic is over who nows, you may end up being a cabin crew with Quatar or another airline 😎
