Cool idea. I just came across your channel and I dig your content. Good choice in music sounds like an artist from here in Dallas, Tx.

Very very cool. I like your style. The bit about the ghosts made me chuckle out loud. The woofer hole is too small that equals out the holes too big in other cabinets was funny. How did you fix the hole or was it okay? Your bad luck with the first amp and the customer service wisdom, nice touch, I agree. The DIY subwoofer cabinet and planning, theory explanation I liked. The honest opinion of whether it's good science for your amp cooling and bass reflex vent was great stuff... one never knows until they try. Then the brain function topic and you thinking the subwoofer was on, when it was off made me laugh out loud too. Been there and done that. On the upside, it says something about your tower speakers, which must make decent bass to trick your brain like that. I'm guessing you were really pleased when the working amp came and you got to hear the sense of scale a good subwoofer adds... I agree about the sub for movies vs music too, BUT... Try your nice DIY sub in your home theater and my guess is you'll need to build another because you'll love it and find out it makes movies and shows sound so much better. Anyway, loved the video. Was it long? Yup, but it's not easy to pack in that much information into a single video that's easily digested, but your personality makes up for it. That looks like a really peaceful and cozy place to live, so quiet in the background too. I'd like to see the bomb shelter under the shed. Hopefully you won't need to use it like your grandparents did. Old timers were tough cookies. Cool stuff and all the hand tool work was a nice change. Speakers don't need to look like they came from a factory to sound good. A few things I noticed on the sub... If you are crossed over low enough, (below 200Hz), any audible cabinet resonance will be minimal, but I would be more concerned with the back panel, blocker panel for the amp area, resonating and that sounds coming through the huge vent. Still, probably not going to be a noticeable problem and a good idea for strong bracing on a cabinet that large. With a powered subwoofer sometimes you may have the dreaded subwoofer hum from the long patch cable or just from differences between wall sockets. If it's not humming now that's good. Sometimes it will happen and shorter patch cables and changing what wall sockets it's plugged into can help. I found that shorter, cheap RCA cables have actually worked better than expensive "subwoofer" cables! If you feel very creative, you might want to try the Dayton Classic 15" in a big enclosure if you don't mind a larger box. Big woofers don't need to work as hard and tend to produce low bass effortlessly, vs a smaller woofer working so hard in and out. The big Woofers hardly move yet the room comes alive with bass. That's one reason I love larger two and three ways. You'd probably dig the big 15" 3 way Resto mod I did, the bass is so smooth and when the music calls for it, it makes subsonic reference level lower bass so easy and seamless. That project turned out really good, although the videos that I did are terribly long and boring lol. Thanks for the video, I enjoyed it very much, chilling out on my day off. Thanks for watching and subscribing to my channel as well.

Thank you so much with your long message. I did get the holes bigger with a Dremel. A lot of work, but it worked. You are right with your thinking with subwoofers and I will make my home theatre better some day. I think, if I could sell a couple of speakers and earn some money. It would be really cool to have some matching wooden speakers in there.

Yes, it is high fidelity and when making balanced system with speakers, this subwoofer makes a great pair in small or medium size room.

This sub looks beautiful. I like the dark grey and with the real wood. I have done a similar finish myself but not with such a quality wood. I don't know if you mentioned it, what is the net volume and tuning frequency of the sub?

I just saw the part where you mention the tuning frequency and internal volume. Btw, the sam300d has a built in highpass filter at 25Hz

@@Pentenfi Yes. It has that filter, the room gain is boosting and I measured 20Hz F3 from the listening position.
