I'm about 4 years late, but watched this tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it - much better than Jimmy Broadbents C1 effort! Project Cars 2 did some things very well, and LMP2 was one of them. I still play/drive it regularly and enjoy it as much as I did back in the old days of 2018/19.

Just practice and focus on driving to a specific time or consistency, say 90% of your outright pace. You go flat out all the time, you're going to make mistakes which leads to inconsistent times. It then makes it easier to keep going lap after lap at a quick pace too as you build rhythm and knowledge of where you can and can't push.

Yorkie, I just did a Rolex 1.2 of my own, and it was amazing! I got tagged in turn 2 by an Aston Martin, but the car was fine, then I spent 40 minutes trying to make a gap, but the car I used, an 911 RSR was understeering because of the setup, so the gap was 8 seconds, and they were catching up, then they pitted, so a few laps later I decided to put as well, but when I was done, the clutch went, so that was an extra 30 seconds, but luckily I was only a tenth behind him, so I tried overtaking him rejoining on the oval, but that didn’t work, so I made my move doing a switch back on the exit of the bus stop! I again managed to make a gap of 10 seconds, but I got punted by a LMP2, but I rejoined still first with minor damage, after I won in the GTLM class 👍

Mistake ratio? Guessing you mean the amount of times I made mistakes compared to not? In which case, not really no. Had the first few towards the beginning. After the contact, that got me damage, there was probably 3 or 4 more.

Are you racing on a wheel, or controller? How are you able to turn the view to look at the mirrors and side windows? I use a G29 wheel, and I'm not able to look to the sides, only straight ahead (?). Also hate to sound jealous, but your driving is impeccable. I am swirving and slipping out in all directions. I need to find some good PC2 tutorials. I am migrating over from the very frustrating Gran Turismo Sport to PC2, and having a heck of a time.

So I use a wheel for driving (in the description) and I use TrackIR 5 for looking at the mirrors and out the sides of the car (also in the description). You can assign buttons to look left and right, and if you use the helmet cam you can get similar head movement of looking into the apexes of corners, and also turn off the helmet cam stuff like the template and depth of field effects if you don't like those. As for tutorials, my channel has 50 of them covering everything Project CARS 2. Hopefully you'll learn a lot from them and help improve your driving and experience of the game.

Great videos!! I have the PS4 and GT Sport and Assetto for the PS4 with a sim rig but I’m thinking of purchasing a PC for the real sims such as iRacing, ACC, raceroom, etc. what PC equipment in your opinion would be great for these PC sims?

I'm a little out of touch in terms of hardware these days so not really sure. Depends entirely on your budget. If you're in the UK, dropping Overclockers.co.uk or Scan.co.uk an email saying you want a system to run X, Y and Z games for whatever budget you have, they'll generally be more than happily give you a recommended spec. If you're not in the UK, just do the same for whatever PC hardware companies / retailers you have available in your country.

Even with the ai aggression set to zero, they will punt me in the rear at least once every ten minutes. Am I missing something? Did this exact same race last week and couldn't complete it.

I know you said that you’ve changed the setup a bit; things like the brake ducts, radiator opening, and gear ratios. Were there any aero changes that you made to it?

I used 2-9 wings, so I believe so. Not perfect wing settings and could have been refined a lot but a quick change that I made.

O, and one more thing I see that you often use TC, but not ABS , I tend to keep Stability and TC off but ABS on cause i find the TC too interfeering, is this down to the setups im using or maybe my driving :P?

I use Authentic assists, so whatever the real car uses. In this case here, TC Low but ABS is off. I always keep Stability Control off, but if the car has ABS and TC I tend to run it, with the TC Slip (found in the cars tuning menu) set at somewhere around 20 odd so its not intrusive and only kicks in when I'm proper sideways. In this car though, I was running it at 12 to help with the traction.

Not VR no. Using TrackIR which has the same head motion tracking as VR does, but im looking at my normal monitor instead of a display in a headset on my head.

Pardon my stupidity but is there another way to take a look at the temps monitor bottom left in car other than Track IR?

If you're using a controller, then you should be able to use the right analogue stick to move the camera to look around. Otherwise, you can assign buttons to look left and right which might get the dash into your view depending on FOV and camera position in the cockpit.

Why does your engine show damage? I get that too...is it because of shifting?

Can be a mix of things. 1 - Engine running too hot. 2 - Over-rev'ing by shifting too late or early and up into the limiter. 3 - Running turbo's boost pressure too high putting a lot of load through the engine. 4 - General wear over time. 4 and maybe 2 were probably the two main factors at play.

I've had a problem at Daytona in the prototypes on PS4. I lose about 25-30 kph on the ai on both oval turns. It just drags. I've tried minimal downforce and it just drags. Anybody run into this?

Increase ride height so you're not bottoming out, close up brake ducts to reduce drag more, close radiator opening a bit to reduce drag and finally make sure your gears are long enough to use the increase in top speed.

I know I'm late but I just want to say I really hope Project CARS 3 has an option to pick the AI's cars, liveries, and names. Also (this is asking for a lot, probably too much), I would want a track editor of some sort, but that would probably be very difficult. There should also be a flash headlights button. Also the kerbs pull you off the track (unrealistic) and slow you down too much.

Soft tyres. Track temperature was around 15 degrees if I remember correctly so did Softs > Softs.

Sure, so generally the rule of thumb is if the track temperature is below 30 degrees C, you can probably use slicks depending on the car and track. If it's above 25 degrees C, you can use hards. So there is a 5 degrees overlap but as I mentioned it depends on the track layout, the car, your driving and what temperatures your tyres are reaching. Softs you want to keep between 70-95 degrees, above 95 they rapidly lose grip. Hards you want between 75-105, and although there is some loss in grip you can still run them up to 115 / 120 degrees as long as you're somewhat careful. Car type does come into play with this too. So the above works very well for GT cars. For Prototypes, it's not quite as clear cut. Similar approach, but from what I've experienced they generally have a bit more stability and grip on the soft tyres in and around the cross over point. In this case here for this race, track temp was too cold to even regard the hard tyre.

Yep, there are a number of different traits that AI drivers can be assigned, and yes, they try to give you a little bit of room when lapping.

Idk how you manage not to get any penalties on all your videos you kinda cut some corners and clip some of the white lines and you dont get any penalties. Every time I run over a white line even slightley with the outside tire i get a penaltie. Is there some setting to ease the penalties or something like that ?

No more than 2 wheels over the lines. The curbs at the bus stop here you can trim a tiny bit but you have to be so accurate as it is very hard to predict, but having driven a ton, I know when I am being marginal with the lines. The other thing you can do to avoid getting a penalty is lifting a little when over the white lines to avoid getting any slow down warnings, or at least reduce them before they appear as they take the whole corner into account.

Why? What good is it to throw a caution every other lap forcing everyone to slow down to a crawl for a lap or two just because someone spun but has managed to recover to the track in 5 seconds. It's really not needed in-gaming other than a yellow flag to warn drivers of an incident ahead.

because it sucks to spend a fair amount of time practicing and qualifying to get dumped in the first turn of a 25 lap race.
