John: I agree; we’ve been there, done that. I’m 73 and can still do a 500+ mile day. On my 10th Harley; a 2020 SGS. Did 6200 miles last year in Wisconsin and Midwest. Who cares how you get there; at this stage in my life I am grateful that I am able to ride.

First time I heard of the auto train was a guy in Florida I think his KZbin channel is two wheel obsession. He would take it all the way up and then ride to Blue Ridge back. I think it’s awesome. You wake up in the morning and you’re already there

Dude, never knew this was an option. Looks like a cool way to travel, and really enjoy the time with buds. To think being fully energized when you make it to Daytona and able to ride in still. I've rode from Southern MD to Jax and that was still about 11hrs, with just gas and go, and it was in nothing but RAIN. I need to check this autotrain tthing out, thanks man!!

Gotta say you got LUCKY missing the snow storm as in 1979 it snowed from NY to the Florida border and was a HORRIBLE TRIP We took the bikes in the van the friends that rode spent the WEEK in Virginia until they could rent a truck to bring the bikes in through the snow drifts

I'm definitely doing that next year hopefully. It's a great experience I'm sure, hang out with the friends, relax. Don't pay attention to those knuckleheads trying to prove their manhood. Who the heck wants to be on a bike for 18 hours!!!! And then have to ride back home. It'll be fun to get to Daytona and then feel fresh to ride around in Florida. Best Kept secret ( NY to FLA ) ....... you have to layover in a Hotel in the Carolina 1/2 way down anyway so why NOT get a hotel that is on wheels moves while you sleep!! arrive rested worth every penny!! I usually do this trip 2 times a year. its even better is you have some extra $$ and get a Room on the Auto train.

I was going to take the auto train then cancelled. We just came back from Daytona yesterday after trailering. I heard from too many people that had bad experiences. I'd rather have the freedom to do what I want than to be stuck on a train. We had an awesome time in Daytona, but the rain was hellacious. I was glad I had my truck when it was too bad to ride. I’ve ridden to Daytona in October when it was warm and loved it but that auto train is next. I don’t do well with cold weather riding so I took my bike on the back of my pickup. I wanted to take the train but they wouldn’t let me leave the bike on the truck. I would have ended up paying for both the bike and truck so I drove all the way. We will be doing Leesburg in April so the Auto train is definitely on the table.

Haven't been on the auto train (not available here in MN) but rode the Amtrak out to Whitefish Montana for a ski trip when I was much younger. Great experience on the train.

On the Auto Train you and your buddies got to see a part of this country you would not have seen on 95. You guys rode in the rain and around the Daytona area. It doesn't get better than that!
