Daytona USA - 8 player (777 Speedway) PS3

So, first gameplay upload from the November 2020 8 player online races (played today in fact!). Goddamn, the 777 Speedway races were brutal! I got taken out by the other players pretty much every single time the track came up. I have, of course, cherry picked the one I did best at as my first upload.
Still, all good fun though, innit?

Ah 777 Speedway, the one track where you will be attacking more walls rather than corners. And man not even the pitlane exploit in the last round could stop MrThunderwing taking the win.

Maaaaan, you took me out quite a few times dammit! Twice in one race at one point. It's all good though, Daytona's meant to be played rough. And yeah, perfect way to spend a wet and grey looking Saturday afternoon.

I love that this video isn't just someone cruising in first place the whole time! the fact that you drop all the way down to 8th and get the "come from behind" victory makes this super exciting to watch! thanks for posting!

I wouldn't say 100% pure luck. I still had to get around that last lap without fucking it up myself or crashing into one of the other players.

Well, the 2 games I've specifically organised through my channel over the last 2 months were more one off events, rather than something I'm planning on doing regularly. But who knows, more games may get arranged at some point. The Daytona Discord would probably be a good place to check out for games organised by others. I'm on there, but I'm not exactly what you'd call a particularly active participant.

Can you turn off computer assistance? (meaning the last car goes faster to try to catch, a feature in 90's games, like NBA JAM)

It's not just the last car, it's every car that's not in first place that gets the speed boost. I can't 100% recall off the top of my head, but I think there's an option to turn it on or off when you're setting up the conditions for the online game. I think it's much more fun with it turned on though, it tends to stop one single person getting out in the lead and just staying there. It was possible to turn it off in the arcade as well, if the people playing pressed down all 4 view select buttons when selecting the course. If over 50% of the players did this, it disabled the slow car boost.
