On a rainy, gloomy Monday (9-25-2023), I drove deep into Packers-territory and purchased this non-running 1/2-ton long-bed Studebaker Transtar pickup.
Upon loading it, along with some spare parts, I hauled it 9-miles north to Classic Enterprises (of Rice Lake, Wisconsin) being that they manufacture body repair panels for Studebakers (Jeeps too!).
While there, I purchased a replacement passenger-side cab step, rocker panel and floor panel for it and then hauled it all home.
Last titled in North Dakota, I have no idea how long it has been parked but the old tires tell me it has been multiple decades since it last saw a public road.
Come Tuesday, I wanted to unload the Studebaker from my trailer so I worked on trying to get the original Studebaker 224 V8 engine running. Watch the entirety of the video to see results.
More videos from the middle of Minnesota on my channel.
Thank you for subscribing. Cheerio!

Wow ! Looks like you have quite a collection on the 'proving grounds'. I've been looking for something like this for a few years now. Looks like a great find ! Best wishes on the project !

What a beauty. That nifty two tone paint job was a factory option. Clean her up, update the mechanicals and drive her. My Dad used to say the only thing that can kill a Studebaker is rust...

The ascetic beauty of that perfect basic dash board is a marvel.

Looks better shape for a start than my 56 did back in 79. Any updates on the progress. The memories are endless with mine. Was reduced to the the old farm truck after it was rolled over off a small cliff with me and my two siblings at the time (we all survived I caught the blame being the youngest at about 2 years old) in its latter days of my childhood on the farm. Sat for about 8 years before I got it. Rebuilt from the ground up, did a paint mod as I liked the 2 tone provided with the trim on your spare door sets. Had the little 224 as well. Put on a cheap cherry bomb for my muffler. She'd shoot flames out the tail pipe that ended midway under the bed, clear past the bumper. Even after the tune ups she still did the backfire when one let of the gas and shifted down. Loved it. Like a foolish child in my youth I regrettably sold it.

No updates yet, other than I think I located a replacement rear window for it from a friend. I have some other projects to complete before I get back on this one, though I hope to have it on the road this summer.

That's a really straight Studebaker. It looks all original. What's your plans for it ? Most Studebaker cars people swap in a small block Chevy. I hope you keep it all original.

I will keep it as original where possible. I will replace the water pump, wheel cylinders, brake master cylinder and tires before I move onto body repair. I will try to keep most of the original paint and duplicate the original look where I make repairs.

@@Minneshowta sounds like a good plan. It didn't really look like it smoked when you started it. When I had to deal with old cars the wiring was always a concern.

Driver-side is very good, the passenger-side has a small area of fiberglass patching. The passenger-side cab step is soft but I have a new reproduction panel from Classic Enterprises to repair it.
