Ross I also noticed a difference between trading a big account vs smaller. With smaller account, say, 1000$ cash accnt, you just choose the most obvious stock that definitely goes up. You don’t care so much if you lose $30. My problem starts with larger sizes. Then I take two, three positions of different stocks at once as nobody knows which one will go up which one stall and go down. Then I miss the time to sell on those positions. Now as my account grew a little bit again, after blowing off at least 3 times, I decided not to take more than 1-2 positions at a time. I absolutely cannot trade in simulated account. I should have started with that, but if I stop and go back to paper account, I will not be motivated to trade. It will not reflect what I would do real time. I should say I still trade on a phone, 2 phones. It is hard for me to transition to larger screens. First of all be cause I don’t want my family to know yet until I become successful, but even then I think they will not approve. Also, instead of limit sell orders, if I can, I should just closely watch the stock and sell on the highest, and not sell in the middle of move because my limit order gets filled then.

Great video as always. For me, trader psychology has always been something I need to work on. When I have a good week or month, I tend to get stubborn and hold on to my losers, averaging down and giving back more than I should. This leads to wanting to make up my losses, which spirals into more losses. Then, realizing I'm no longer grateful for 10-cent or 80-cent profits because I need more to offset my losses, it's time to recenter myself. Trading truly is hard, and you are always learning. I'm truly grateful for you, Ross. You are a great teacher and mentor.

Ever since I started scalping only the number one top gainer on a bull cycle between 5am to 8am I increased my win ratio increased dramatically. Instead of searching for the next big run from the 20 to 40 percents levels to run to 80 to 130 percent. Once a stock gets to 130 percent and holds that strength with micro gaps ... I start scalping if the other winning variables are there and there is a bullish cycle in play. If two new stocks knock the one Im trading out of first place , I let mine go if I start seeing weakness.

In Pro Baseball you are considered a successful batter if you get a hit 30% of the time or better. So failure is a big part of the game and so mentally players have to come to grips with failure being the norm and reducing that failure as being considered a success.

To me, the fear of losses or the emotional concerns of losing are proportional to the amount of money one has saved and is using for trading. If you have only 5k saved and you use it to trade, and you lose $100, it hurts more than if you had 5k to trade, but also have savings of 50k in another account. This is why I always trade only a smaller portion of my total savings. It's much better for me emotionally. I'm like saying to myself, "if I lose, no worries. I was planning on it".

Well said, managing emotions and sound money management are key to trading unfortunately most won’t pay attention to this until they’ve gone through the motions of getting smashed about then they look for clarity on the psychological and emotional aspects. I'd say having guidance from an experienced pro who has already navigated the complexities of establishing and adhering to trading rules can be a wise approach to consistently secure successful trades while still improving as a novice.

I like the way you present the realities of the markets, stocks and the way one trades. As you described the mistakes, I thought to myself, You picked the right spot. You were gaining and had the thought of now is the time to sell. I didn't. Mistake. Maybe it will come back up. mistake. Many other things you described I had to admit being guilty of. Ultimately instead of making 6% today on the stock, I lost that much. Then of course a couple hours later, it made that and more, but I could not sit there paying attention to one stock for hours. Also, I never really understood the candles until watching another of your videos. That is what enabled me to find the right time to get in. It also told me when to get out, but I got greedy and paid the price. 😑

I love numbers and statistics. I was thinking about your 68% success rate and how it probably doesn't completely represent your success ratio (win volume vs loss volume). Let's say you "lose" 32% of the time, well if your average loss is let's say $2k and you're average win is $7k, then those volumes weighted against one another gives you a number (loss volume vs win volume) far greater than %68. You my friend are amazing, I love your videos, thank you for sharing and being transparent! Ive been at this for three months on my own and have been doing what you mentioned, I was up $11k at one point then down $5k and what seemed to work one week didn't work the next! I love to watch every single video you make! I feel like i learn so much from theese because of the fact that i deeply relate to your examples. I have wanted to start trading since i were 16 years old but in Sweden, there is an age limit of 18 to start trading on your own so I put away money every month in an index fund. I turned 18 a month ago and I experimented a little bit on my own the first days. I won many trades and I felt on top of the world. But then out of nowhere, reality hit when i had the confidence to do large positions. Lost 4000 dollars in four days and I realized that I needed to do all the theoretical because I will never give up until I win. My account size is not as big as it was before and I lost a lot confidence with it. So now, I have tried to take notes from youtube videos but I didn't actually understand what I noted down. Until I saw you full trading guide and got a really solid foundation I feel like. Thank you Ross for providing us with all of this useful information it really does help and I learn something new from every single one of your videos! Don't stop. //Lucas

Waking up between 4am and 5am pst to trade each day, then leaving for work at 6:45am pst (meaning I miss open most days), and having a kid graduate in June (honors 😊) has all made trading everyday in a small account overseas incredibly difficult. I fail. A lot. But I know what to do now, and I could buy a small island if simulators were real (😅). Now it's just a matter of time until the good habits become a part of my core as a trader, and the bad habits fall off one by one. Looking to take a real stab at it again this winter. This time, I'm going to go back into the simulator for a while before, AND I'm setting share limits, and max/total daily losses with my broker. Slowly raising those limits as I prove I can handle the size. Ross gives you all the tools guys, it's up to you to put it all together.
