hello i don't have the option "line tesselation" under hair/paramteres/general. i used several d-force hair, followed your steps but this option is nowhere to seen. has daz removed it meanwhile or has it a new term?

@@RaukoDaz3D I also encountered a problem that has not been solved. the 《Iray Ghost Light Kit》series is not working, it seems to be related to a more daz version upgrade, I am now using 4.20.

Mesh grabber, geo editor, etc. a lot of those tools will also mess up any geo shell toggles too.

Yeah, it impacts a few different areas .. just a Dazism which will hopefully disappear when 5.0 eventually lands ..

Overall I'm not keen on Strand Based Hair .. some of it is fine .. but a lot of the time it looks like Candy Floss (or Cotton Candy to our overseas friends .. )

Yeah you're right .. my beef is, if possible, why don't PAs set these settings by default ?.. I guess there's "reasons" why they don't ...

it was kinda funny that this character is actually called "Santa". Coz in norwegian (im from norway) 'Nisse' means 'Santa', haha LOL :P

Thanks for an excelent tutorial, any pointers on how to actually pick out hairstyles that is stand based on the store? it seems like whatever I buy, it's still just planes with transparency

Thanks for watching .. Unless it says it in the title of the hair product (rare these days) it should say it in the description on the product page itself. Also, if you search the Daz store for "Strand based hair" it should return them for you. Finally, having used strand based hair for a while you get to recognise it just by the promo image as it usually as it's own look that sets it apart from "normal" hair .. in time you get to spot the difference!

Thanks for your work! Seems lots of fishhooks in that strand based hair within DAZ - I have never yet tried it. How does one even distinguish dforce strand hair from more common dforce card hair within the DAZ store ?!?!

Not too easily, sadly. You just get used to seeing the look of it in the Daz store. Occasionally, it will be mentioned in the description but on the whole not. So, really, it's just eyeballing it.

@@RaukoDaz3D I was experimenting with the DAZ Filament render a while ago but transmapped card hair was a total fail, it's sad that DAZ seems to have never improved that. Have you ever tried Strand Based in Filament?

You make great renders! I don't understand why hair in iClone is animated in real time and looks as good (in my opinion even better) than in DAZ. I'm do not even talking about other 3d software. At the same time, DAZ is much more demanding on hardware. Don't you think so?

In some ways, yes. I'm not a big fan of the strand based hair in Daz .. I think it can look either too wire-y at times and at other times, looks like cotton candy. When the PA who creates it does it well - it can look half decent. But overall, I'd agree with your sentiment.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you - I had a lot of spam at some point and it seems your comment got lost amongst it all .. You've probably sorted this by now - but if not, give me a shout again .. However, to let you know - there are a few different types of textures some of which you need to do different things with (for instance, you might have a "shader texture" in which case you'll need to select the surfaces you want to apply it to within the Surface tab before double clicking the texture)

stop pting your hairs on hair caps pleas that silly,I know you need it on cap to save it as wereable but you create the hair on the genesis 9 figur, and after that transfer it to a cap by reparenting the strand based hair to the cap, save as wereable, and wen you load the haor as werable you selct the hair again and reparent them to the genesis 9 digur and delet the caps
