Asking for permission to touch someone in the hairdressers is so so important and for people who have suffered traumatic abuse throughout their life. And you don't know who has, so asking everyone makes a huge difference. Lot's of people have been waterboarded by abusive partners for example and they struggle on the daily to TOUCH THEIR OWN BODY near running water because they have full blown ptsd. Ok I'm gonna make this real easy for your tiny baby brain to understand. Do you know of things called reflexes? They are things that your body (you know what your body is right?) Does on it's own and sometimes you gain a reflex because of something that happened in the past. Do you know what the past is? That's right, it's something that happened before right now, so if you kept repeating a word in response to a question you would likely get a reflex to say that word when someone asks you three same question. Now, do you know trauma? Say it with me, t-r-a-u-m-a. Good! Now, trauma is a bad experience that happened in the past and sometimes that bad experience gives you a reflex, like flinching, getting nervous, or even scared. Sometimes trauma has to do with someone touching you one way or another. Sometimes the trauma from someone touching you someway is because you didn't have control. Can you say control? Goood. Now, if someone is sure that they have control then they won't have those reflexes happen and the person feels comfortable. Do you understand all that? Good, now go play at the park and don't open your mouth when you don't know what you're talking about.

to be fair, going to the hiar dressers as someone who is autistic, it takes a lot of mental preparation for a stranger to touch you,and even when you're there and know what is going to happen,it is nice if they ask and double check so it's not weird or stupid to ask

The hairdresser one is important to understand that that specific stylist asks for pronouns and consent to make their customers more comfortable and in control of their hairdressing experience, and they take this sensitivity because the customer has usually experienced trauma, experiences PTSD or is just nervous about their salon trip or just wants to be more comfortable. It's not 'stupid' sometimes its necessary and hair dressing experiences are different for everyone 🙏🏻🖤

The hairdresser one, some ask if they can touch you for people with autism or people with touch sensitivity.
@abbywaters83079 ай бұрын
Yeah like everyone knows when you go to the hairdresses they are obviously going to touch you but it's nice to have a warning as someone who is autistic and has ptsd. Daz is normally very good about that stuff but maybe he just doesn't know.
@slsthewriter12999 ай бұрын
@@abbywaters8307 That, or it he was also laughing at the awkwardness of the video, on top of the secondary reaction to said video. Because sure, hairdressers do this, but it'd be just as awkward if someone recorded them having a normal interaction with like a cashier. It's an awkward video.
@evansphenomenal9 ай бұрын
@@abbywaters8307 I think going to the place itself is already some type of warning without the hairdresser having to say anything.
@triniskittles_9 ай бұрын
@@evansphenomenalin a way he's, but when ppl have trauma or ptsd or autism, an extra warning is nice. that's why that hairdresser asks.

That hairdresser where she asks is it OK if I touch you I thought was weird but then someone said about domestic violence that made her fear being touched so when she battled her fear of hairdressers from trauma they would ask and tell her when they would be touching her hair so not to trigger her ptsd
