You said that Paula got a new office, but her office was actually the CEO's office, heavily implying that she got the CEO's job. Another thing is that, Paula was completely right in the end! When Riley chose her own dream, she chose Glitter, Balloons, and Rainbow Unicorn! I also think that it's important to note that the reason Janelle was probably inclined to believe Paula was when she heard she quit, Janelle had worked with Paula for they say multiple times, 10 years, so she probably knows how much her job means to her, along with her quick reading of the script.

I enjoyed this commentary, but I have one note. I actually really liked that Xeni pointed the reality distortion filter earlier and then Paula ends up using that idea. Sure it could have been more impactful if she came up with it on her own, but her using Xeni's idea shows character growth and how she is finally accepting him as a real director annd someone who's ideas are worth exploring. I feel if that detail wasn't shown, the turnaround for her promoting Xeni to director would feel very sudden, like she completely changed who she was because of basically nnothinng. Instead, it was Xeni's idea that actually saved Riley's dream, not Paula's. Sorry about how long this is, I really loved this detail

Great characters (Paula and Xeni’s bond especially), funny moments, and a lot of feels, something Pixar is known for. I’m especially a fan of Riley’s drawing self. It reminds me too much of Disney’s own “How Not to Draw” shorts. Also, Mel the dog. Come on. He’s marketable! Who wouldn’t want a pet that can make them go to sleep easily?! Also, I like how we DO get to see the Inside Out characters we know and love here and there, and, unlike Sonic and Tails in Knuckles’ series, they don’t overstay their welcome, and instead strengthen the lore and how things work within the Inside Out world. 11/10, will definitely go back to it again, such a shame it’s a limited series…but it kind of makes sense since this is an “inbetweenquel” (love that word). I’m gonna say it: Inside Out is a worthy successor to the Toy Story franchise if Pixar ever wanted to call it that. There’s SO MUCH more you can do with it!

14:30 yeah so if I’ve done my calculations correctly, Riley was 11 in 2015. Meaning she was born 2004. She would be 20ish today. (2024) if she is 13 in the next film meaning this is set roughly 2017. I’d say the jokes align given the influence from her parents on her humour/knowledge. I forget how long ago the first one came out I thought she was 13 in 2024 I didn’t think about it 💀 I understand they use modern phones and a lot of modern references that would be unknown to a 13 year old in 2017 BUT it’s ofc just to engage children and make it feel present and I LOVE IT! Same sorta logic as mamma Mia lmao but on a MUCH LESS noticeable difference lol

She was 11 for most of the first movie but 12 by the end in Joy’s epilogue, so the second film would more likely take place in 2016. Couple of details that make me sure of this: There’s banners and whatnot (from past events that happened there ig) hung around the rink during the camp in IO2 where 2016 is the most recent year. The calendar in coach’s office although not labeled, matches up with August of that year which would make sense given that it’s supposed to take place right before the school year starts (at least in the US).

26:45 They clarified multiple times that petting Mel releases the sleep spores. For example, when they get a new office and Xeni is put in the closet, he pets Mel and falls asleep after saying “I feel invigorated.”

Inside Out once again swings, hits and does a home run. This show was SUPER clever and the climax had me gobsmacked. If they make an Inside Out 3 I really hope the Dream Productions, characters will be in it. They deserve it.

They are called mind workers not cells. I googled it

It’s never explicitly stated afaik what the ‘mind workers’ are supposed to resemble or represent. They’re just blob people.

The reality distortion filter was showed in the movies but it wasn’t explored until now! The boyfriend maker was also part of the first movie! I just love the continuity!

I think a cool idea for another series would be going through other parts of the brain, like teh daily life of the workers that manage riley's memories

Going by my own experience of teenage hood plus the fact that I have a sister who has gone through all of that I would say Riley is 12.5 during the four episode run. I mean it makes sense. She’s 12 and the first one she’s 13 and the second one well technically 11 in the first one but 12 at the end so she was technically 11.9 years old in the first film. And the conclusion comes about a month later give or take a few days so yeah 12.5 definitely sounds like a good guest for me after when I was about that age. I started having dreams similar to this so yeah I think it all fits very well. My sister was 12.6 when she started having dreams like this at all these years later we are pretty much adults at this point with me being the oldest and we didn’t even know each other at that time besides she’s my adopted sister. Despite my hatred for Kelly Lane, I do adore her daughter Sylvia Lane my adopted sister is nothing like her mother nicknamed the mother of dead babies.
