I would've bought this gun if it had come out when I was getting my K6s, and that says a lot. The K6s is the best revolver I've had, but the J frame compatibility and the push button on the crane make this way more practical. The SDR will make the K6s obsolete if you guys come out with a 9mn cylinder.

9:00 regarding grips, I just got the polished "701"sku" (711 is matte) and already own a battery of S&W J frame snubbies, each with different grips. A set of Pachmayer Compacs easily dropped in but other brands did not install because the screw hole in the grips was misaligned with the grip frame. Grinding the frame for the screw to pass through would not make sense but one set of grips had a screw with a step already cut in to slip over the frame and reach the opposite estuchen. So if you encounter such a problem THINK and alter the screw or the grip, NOT the firearm. Or use an alternative grip, 100s are available.

@@IROD808 👍Yes. I've known impatient and impulsive guys so anxious to install an accessory that they hastily took files and dremels to guns permanently ruining them. The theads in the center of the screw can be shaved down to allow it to slide over the interfering grip frame and thread into the opposite grip estuchen. A spoiled screw or grip is easier to replace than a sabotaged firearm.

The cases just stack up and collect dust at my house so I don’t care about cases if they’d sell it in brown paper bag and shave off another 10.00 I’d buy it even quicker😂 In some cases and I feel it’s the case here is that they’re not trying to cut costs for their profit, they are putting more of the costs into the actual product to give you a better product at a cheaper price. A good case would make the product cost more. The SDR looks like a well made gun and looks very comparable to 800-1000.00 revolvers like the Kimber but at 650-700.00. That comes from skimping on some minor things like the case.

And I don’t disagree like I said in the review for me if I had to pick one thing it would be that .. but I understand why.. but many companies are offering good guns and yet give you a good case and don’t break the bank …and than there are also a lot of companies that don’t.. but for me personally I like good case … but I understand that not everyone feels that way .. it’s one amazing revolver with all that said , and it’s why I even said for an unboxing it’s my favorite of all time ! I got one last week, and the first thing I did was order new grips. Took it to the range and it shot flawlessly. Very happy with mine. I bought a leather 1791 IWB holster and the gun fits perfectly in it.

Nice Revolver 👍 Great factual video. Hope you might make another video down the road in regards to how the firearm and finish hold up overall. Mildly concerned if the forcing cone will hold up to a steady diet of magnum rounds 🤔 Hope now that they announced a 3 inch and a 9mm version that they will offer the 9mm cylinder assembly in both finishes for people who bought the 357 magnums. Curious if a Tyler T-grip would work on these?

always agree with complaints about cardboard boxes, if i can get a $100 ratchet set with a nice blow mold case then i think any and every gun should come with a case i can store it in. besides that, this gun is GORGEOUS and i certainly plan on getting one

New subscriber here. It looks great with those grips and with the black finish. I have it in the matte finish and I will probably change out the grips at some point in the future. I have several snubbies and this one is definitely a keeper. I like it much more than my Ruger SP101 and I love the SP101.

I ordered one of these online over Thanksgiving and a week later the company cancelled the order and refunded my money 'cause they just couldn't get enough in stock. D'OH! Back to square one. But I'll get one sooner or later... It's funny, I'm the opposite when it comes to plastic cases versus a cardboard box. I just don't have sufficient storage space for everything, so I put all my handguns in a locker and throw away whatever they came in. That said, I have no trouble tossing cardboard but some of those molded jobbies are so nice I have a hard time getting rid of them... :-)

I can say that the dimensions are very similar, there are some differences when it comes to the cosmetic look. The trigger I have to give it credit man it’s amazing. I love this little revolver and I’ve owned several. I believe you will enjoy it now I’m not sure if it will fit the holster or not, but I will say it does have a lot of similar dimensions, the J frame holster leather works very well.. Versacarry holsters… I have a video on them and the fit for the SDR..I really appreciate you stopping by and clicking on the video. I appreciate your support as a small channel. unfortunately thats my fault I wasn’t allow the trigger to rest properly and it was causing a timing issues with the cylinder.. I have a video of me at the range and that’s one of the issues I was having .. at the end of that video I started to get into the groove again of shooting revolvers been 5 years away..also the orange caps was cause it to get stuck… at the range the only issues was with the ammo being old as dirt and the primer not going off properly.. and it was only that Ammo, the Hornady ammo had no issues … thank you for stopping by and supporting the channel I appreciate you !

Very cool looking weapon. Really like the grip and the fiber optic sights. Capaciity is the main issue for me. Currently carrying an X-Macro TacOps and with one in the pipe it has triple the capacity of a 6-shot revolver. No mental gymnastics has been able to overcome that so far.

@@XrayMike17plus1 A surgical glove belt pouch can be used for 1 or 2 speed strips and at least 1 possibly 2 round shaped speed loaders. Larger sized works. If bulged out no issue it looks like its overstuffed with gloves and or a face mask. Discretion is maintained. I also have a mini flashlight and multi tool pliers alongside to camouflage the effect.

The action on the SDA is comparable to those tuned up guns. There is nothing to do to it except put on the grips you like best and start shooting as much as you can.

@@AgainstAllOdds357 first thank you for the support and for stopping by the channel, it was super hard to a line the grips you can just takes a lot of moving around and in the end pushing them together.. once I did that I was able to a line the screw.. took a sometime.. that’s the the thing I have read a lot about how some J frame stuff works for it, but sometimes it does take a slight adjustment or modification… thanks brother did you get the same color ? I Loveee it !!

Per my earlier remarks, dont grind on the SDR. Mark off the center of screw where the threads would lie on the interfering grip frame. File the threads smooth. Removing that little bit of material will not compromise the screw and let it slide over the frame while the untouched tip would be able to thread into the opposite grip panel. The worst case scenario is ruining a $2 screw, so get another. Dont destroy the revolver or even the VZ grip. A gunsmith can do it if you don't want to make the attempt which is fine.
