I did some bug troubleshooting with the "can't make illumination frame too big or it'll go off the screen and you can't grab it!" Seems the new frame's migration is correlated with how much the backglass is zoomed, along with the width and height of the currently focused frame (the one it's duplicating). If the backglass is at 100%, then the new frame shows up like normal in middle of screen and no problems. If less than 100% (so you can actually see everything on your screen), then the taller the frame, the more Y toward the top its initial position. The wider it is, the more X to the left. This effect is multiplied by how much less the zoom is, so at less than 50%, forget about it showing up on the screen (it's somewhere far up and left). Going back to 100% still won't locate the "out of view" frame, so ignore it and put focus on a small frame to duplicate. If you don't have a small frame, then go back to 100%, or close the project without saving and hopefully you've got a backup or start over. So in practice, zoom your backglass no smaller than your window, and always focus on a small light to duplicate before clicking "Add new illumination frame." Good luck out there. Hope this helps.
