Season 1 and beta had killable assits, which made assist calls alot scarier. Still miss this feature.

To me skullgirls and mvc3 have the best type of assist, especially skullgirls. Snap combos feel so good to do because if you’re fighting someone with a broken assist it’s so rewarding when they have to sit there and watch their character get absolutely destroyed😂

Idk if this is a thing already or even a good idea but, I think that if Fighterz we're to make a second game and keep assists the same they should at least make it that if you do a heavy attack move on an assist (like any of the ones that change the camera angle, like heavy gogeta lariat or anything like that) it'll force swap to them, that way there could still be fighterz's unique way of assists and not discourage people for doing a combo on an assist.

I low-key miss the days uMvC3 content was uploaded on the daily. That game is so much fun to watch. So many crazy combos and setups even tho like 1/3 of the cast isn't played at all lol

the biggest thing that makes supering to punish an assist call not viable at all is that their point char can just vanish to end your super. its very unlikely the opponent is going to be throwing out a special at full screen instead of ki blasts or up-backing

Now this is a bit of an interesting watch for me cuz I think to some extent assists should be punishable but I think you’re inflating the reward of the assists in fighterZ. There really isn’t that much mix in fighterZ except for fringe scenarios, and neutral assists aren’t that useful cuz you have SD to counter most them (depending on assist) and even though there’s the threat of 2H a mindful player would just not SD in those contexts, or potentially just do the same thing you did to the Dr. Doom assist and raw level 1 and DHC (if your characters have beam supers that is or have the specific property to hit multiple characters) I think the main value in assists in fighterZ is to create pressure with and throw in some cheeky resets on the opponent to get your hit, or to hit your opponent in neutral with an assist and combo off of it. So with a rather weaker overall assists in fighterZ I’d say being able to have assists with certain properties like harder to counter them and happy birthday or to have certain qualities that make them more special and being able to call the assist from super jumps is a good thing for dbfz assist balance. In marvel you showed how ridiculous assists can be and it shows in how abusable they were so they needed a way to balance against them, so they gave very good reward on hit against them and that you need to check yourself before calling the assist that’s good in the context to marvel. This is somewhat of an apples to oranges type of comparison because yes they are both tag games, but they play extremely differently at the top level of play and that they can only be compared so much. There’s a certain level of value you get for having these assists in these games and I think they’re relatively well balanced in their respective games. Anyway very cool video it’s good to have conversations about balance of these games.

No downside to randomly calling assists in DBZF? Yes it is. It's called not being able to call that assist again for many seconds and making it wayyyyyy harder to land a hit. You're a sitting duck without an assist in most cases.

I agree, i think cloud is neglecting the timer on assists. I was under the impression that c assists are less meta cos of their time in between use.

I think your 3-5 sec assist idea is stupid. Vegito A/18 A/Labcoat A/SSVegeta A (to name a few) every 3-5 seconds would be so annoyingly insane it would make no sense.

Marvel 3 is basically Marvel on easy mode. 6565747x hit stun. Fun but garbage game overall.
