Wildwood is a great brand, but when they came out with this revised 7'6" Wide FSX single axle series they instantly had me captivated. They took the same boring old little campers everyone else was building and flipped them on their head.
That extra 6" of body width allows them to sneak in SO MANY of those "big travel trailer" features into a smaller, lighter, and LESS EXPENSIVE package!
BIG Features like a deep U-Dinette slide and double/double bunks are things you just generally cannot find in this class with precious few exceptions!
The updates to the interior, SERIOUS Kitchen improvements, and enhanced camp kitchen elevate this one from "previously great" to "instant classic" in my view and experience! Enjoy and leave us some feedback letting us know what you think of her!!
By the way -- This is the floor plan from which the Jay Feather 199MBS was "Inspired" (which is industry talk for "basically copied pretty darn hard" LOL). So if you are trying to get an idea of what that new Jayco Jay Feather Micro 199MBS has to offer in terms of layout but haven't been able to see one, then take a look here and you'll get a good idea in terms of layout (Obviously their construction and features are VERY Different!)

So I just bought a Forest River Salem Northwest 178BHSK in Oregon. Basically the same trailer but the Northwest edition as opposed to the midwest edition. Why is the midwest edition so much cheaper yet has more options?? Such as outdoor shower, backup camera, storage doors at table seats, nicer sink, nicer stove top.

@@JoshtheRVNerd Makes sense, thank you! One thing I’m curious about (and that attracts us to the Surveyor) - why don’t we see more of the “open” bunks? Are they just not popular? Most are like coffins behind a wall - I like the way they incorporated a ladder and a “half wall” on the lower bunk with no wall on the upper - really makes things feel bigger & more open. Any concerns about that? Thanks so much!
@JoshtheRVNerd
@JoshtheRVNerd 4 жыл бұрын
@@dmurphynj I'm not sure what you've seen as our lineup is full of double/double open bunk concepts. Anything larger and you tend to get privacy bunks. Open bunks keep the RV shorter and make it feel a little larger typically Private bunks are often preferred to give each person a "room" to which they can retreat

Josh, you're missing my favorite feature of your videos, "What is it like with the slide closed? Can you drop the murphy bed? Can you access the bathroom?" Also, trick to lower the anxiety of your dog when you leave. It takes an hour of your time and will save your dog so much stress: fake your morning routine. That is, pick up your keys and jacket. Then sit back down and pet the dog for a couple minutes. Then.. pick up keys and jacket.. open up the door to leave. Then sit down again. Then same thing, but this time step outside, close the door.. then open and come back in. Then 5 minutes later do it again, but stay outside for 5 minutes.. then come back in. Then do that again a couple times. Dogs don't have any real sense of time. When your dog thinks you might be back any minute, they no longer stress out. You spend an hour proving that you just might be back any moment, your dog will never stress about you leaving again.

Quick question. Is there enough space to remove the front seating cushions by the Murphy bed and add a jackknife sofa similar to the Catalina 184bhs? I love this camper, but I really like the more traditional/comfortable sofa like on the Catalina. Just curious ho long this cushions are if I could get a short jackknife in there. Great little trailer. They did an excellent job in keeping the weight in check for many larger SUVs. Hey Josh, I noticed almost every bunkhouse travel trailer now comes with/ has option for outside kitchen. In my opinion, outside kitchen usually takes up vertical spacing between the bunks. Im just wondering if there is a manufacturer that can delete outside kitchen and create more vertical bunk spacing.
@JoshtheRVNerd
@JoshtheRVNerd 4 жыл бұрын
It varies a bit -- such as Wildwood's Xlite series -- camp kitchens are always optional there. Outside Kitchen deletes are a common request. I pass along feedback like this regularly to brand mangers. I get the same response usually from almost any of them from almost any MFG -- it's much much easier to standardize features for production consistency (which I understand). The good news is camp kitchens are almost always VERY easily pulled out by our team here if you don't want one. Just a screwdriver and a few minutes gets the lion's share of it done!

Josh not sure where to post this but interested to know your thoughts around the jayco x213 as another option that provides similar sleeping options in same size and shape as this? Like them? Still get them in stock. Similar size and weight to the upcoming 199mbs. But way less you hue weight which is surprising.
@JoshtheRVNerd

I know X213 remains "middle of the road" in terms of their popularity, but I personally am not a fan. I get its goal on paper, but in practice I don't see how it *actually* accomplishes those goals It weighs as much as a 26ft no slide camper & more than most 21ft small-slide campers, and all the weight of that slide is dead on the tail (which is THE WORST) position for weight when towing). The king bed feature is nice, but losing the walk around bed function -- not so much. I feel like we can get you something with the same/better features in other more conventional models, but that's just my two cents. I know plenty of people purchase them and like them. Not similar to the 199MBS though. That's like comparing a full size convertible sedan with a compact sedan

@@JoshtheRVNerd Really appreciate the info and thoughts Josh, all very valid points. Only reason I was making the comparison is because length wise one the x213 is 24' long and weighs 4620lbs, with 495lb hitch weight. And with how heavy I think the 199mbs is going to be according to specs: 23' long, weighs 4660lbs, and has 660lbs hitch weight. Cant believe the hitch weight of the 199mbs compared to other campers that are way heavier. P.S. did you see they had one of the 199mbs's at the Florida show last week? There is a brief video floating around out there but I need the thorough Josh review :)

Hi Kyle! Thanks for watching! Regarding the pricing -- If I had it available myself, then I'd have it online. Looks like the sales manager is working on getting our pricing file caught up. Site will likely get updated by tomorrow is my guess. I know these tend to go for around the 17 mark As always that's an all inclusive feature. Includes all costs of things like getting it here, cleaning, showing you how it works, battery, propane, water and elec surge guards, and a few other odds and ends. No fee nonsense. Just add taxes and tags.

@JoshtheRVNerd
@JoshtheRVNerd 4 жыл бұрын
@@sunflowerlady1810 A very common practice included in the RV business (unfortunately) is advertising a "hook in the water" price tag for a camper that seems too good to be true. Then, when a customer goes to purchase the RV they find out there are now suddenly thousands of extra dollars in "transports fees" to get the RV to the dealership, "prep fees" to get it ready and inspected, and a slew of other fees ON TOP OF the sale price you *thought* you were getting. We just don't do that. Our figures are all-inclusive. No surprises. You know what you're getting with Haylett RV. There is absolutely a cost associated with getting an RV to a dealership no different than there's a cost associated with the distribution of things like groceries or goods to the stores you visit regularly. But like those stores we don't say "Here's your carrots plus a 35 cent transport charge." Does that help clarify?

Great single axle trailer. Didn't expect the double bunks. Can a roof ladder be added? Impressive to get the 10.7 ft3 fridge in there.
@JoshtheRVNerd
@JoshtheRVNerd 4 жыл бұрын
FSX doesn't have allowances for a ladder in their builds, but that 7'6" body makes ALL the difference when it comes to fitting those double bunks in vs. the normal single bunks you see in something like this. Even for just one kid -- my daughter flops like a fish in her sleep. Those bigger bunks would do her a world of good

Hey Josh! Love this new RV that is mentionned in your 5 top RVs. The color choice is great! Feels so open! But I'm disapointed a bit in seeing the naked wood (2×4?) at the pivot point of the murphy bed. I'd like to see a window in the door also. Maybe even one in the front, like some other new RVs.

They're apples and oranges -- they just happen to share a layout. Almost everything in them is completely different. The 199 was actually my suggestion to Jayco and I'm super glad they decided to adopt it. We were SUPPOSED to get our first of them last december, but production has been slow I'm HOPING the end of this month now. But potentially early Feb There's a few photos/small videos of the prototype out there, but the actual production units have yet to be released

Wildwood has three regional production areas. Each has one or two unique floor plans. That 243 is built only in the Northwestern region of our country. Most of the country prefers things like the 240BHXL, but now and then you'll find little pockets where folks prefer different things.
