I'm going to teach you my fail-proof way of installing the dbrand green camo skin for my 16'' MacBook Pro! I got both the top and bottom skins. This method has worked for me every time and I know it will work for you too! Don't be intimidated by these skins, using my method will really help. Yes, this is the best way to fit the skin perfectly. So many people in KZbin showed that they started it from the edge of the top or bottom on the lid. This will end up mis-aligning the apple mark. The fitting must be started from the apple mark.

This is a very neat way of doing the install and seems to be a much easier and reliable method. I’ve just got a 16” skin in a pastel colour, but no matter how I line-up the Apple logo, I end-up with uneven spacing and a lip on the right hand side. The bottom piece is ok, but the top one just seems ever so slightly-off and the lighter colour shows up wrinkles from this process so much more than a dark one. Never had this issue with the skins before, so its a strange on.

I just tried this method for the 13" m1 Air and it's slightly off It *does* get the Apple logo perfectly, but DBrand left a little bit of room for error there, because while the Apple logo area is perfect, the TL and BR corners are slightly crooked. It's not obvious unless you're looking, but the BL and TR areas are very close to the edge of the lid whereas the TL and BR corners have a bit of the MacBook color showing.

Thank you very much. This is even better than official dbrand instructions. And I managed to install perfectly top and bottom skin within 30 minutes. Its even easier for the top skin if you make 3M cut outs at the corners so that you can align the apple logo and all 4 corners simultaneously.

dbrand is sending me a replacement skin because i messed up the application of my first one 😭this method seems WAY easier than the official dbrand tutorial method, cant wait to try this :D UPDATE: bro, this method works FLAWLESSLY. it took me less than a few minutes to apply the matte white top skin perfectly onto my m2 macbook air 13''. its a million times quicker, easier, and more consistent than the official dbrand method. thank you so much for this :D

Great tutorial-thanks! I wish dbrand had an option of not having the apple cutout. I don't care about having apple branding on the top. But as you said, that apple does make it easy to get a proper fit.

Tried this way. Lined the apple logo perfectly. Lined one side near perfect and the other side is completely off. I absolutely hate putting on skins especially with Dbrands predatory return policy/warranty.

I am trying to hide the ugly logo so I am applying without the cutout. So aligning by it is not an option for me

Great vid man. I just ordered the Red dragon skin for my 16” Pro, so you would recommend aligning it with the Apple logo like you did? I know Dbrand shows another way of doing it, but your way seems a lot better and easier to get a perfect alignment.

Hey! Thanks for the question. I had the exact same concern when trying to decide which colour to go with. Having had the black camo in the past, I'm glad I went with the green. It's not overbearing, and in fact, I thought they had sent me the wrong one because it appeared black. This one adds a bit of colour to keep it fresh and interesting, but it's definitely not overbearing. I really do like it! Hope that helps!

You could have just cut the bottom piece lengthwise and used the same approach as the top piece did.

Have you tried putting dbrand on the trackpad? How does it feel and if i put which one is right choice. M not sure how would camo feel as its rough in texture.

I just let it settle. I know they recommend putting a blow dryer to it, but I never really found the need. Maybe in the event that there are some serious areas that have bubbles, then a blowdryer might help, but otherwise, it's been perfectly fine.

Terrible idea that goes against Dbrand’s official application method. This isn’t terrible just because it isn’t Dbrand’s preferred method. It’s terrible because using the Apple logo cutout as the initial point of contact is dangerous. When you pull up to reposition the skin, you run a very big risk in tearing the skin. That’s because of the edge of the cutout for the Apple logo. I am speaking from personal experience. I tried to use this method and ended up tearing the skin 2-3mm on the right side of the Apple logo. Additionally, this method is completely irrelevant for people who opted to buy a skin without the Apple logo cutout.
