One thing I noticed about Bleach, especially since around the Arrancar Saga, if not before, that I always felt for the enemies too (not all of them though) I wanted Ichigo to win, but I also didn't want Grimmjow to fail after everything he went through. The enemies have character too, knowing their backgrounds makes them less shallow, and more like a well fleshed character you had feelings for in some way rather than just an antagonist for the main character to take down

yeah thats what makes bleach fights the best for me most of the times the enemies and the good guys are both not wrong they just have different opinions,for example nnoitra people looking down on him making him look useless and weak which drived him crazy and halibel just wanna protect her friends or stark was lonely just because he is too strong or ulquiorra trying to learn about life...most of the espadas defeat made me feel bad for them. its kinda more enjoyable to rewatch/read bleach because u know the personalities of the characters so you understand more why they acting like that which makes it better and more emotional.i remember first time watching bleach i didnt cry once but when i rewatched man a lot of scenes got me 😅

I also like the way Kubo would put antagonist that questions Ichigo’s goal, like Grimmjow teasing Ichigo by telling him things like “ you’re not really here to save her (Orihime) because you would have took her and run after seeing her, you’re actually here to fight” and it makes you question all the morals. And it is so awesome because it is not the usual “you’re weak, you could never become X or Y”.

And that would be a great character development, IF HE HAD LOST THAT FIGHT! Having a character win when they are wrong and not learn anything new is the lack of Character development. Now I'm not saying Kubo doesn't know how to do CD cause Gin has the best CD in the whole Aizen arc and he's only got like 6 minutes of screen time all together. The problem Kubo faces is that ichigo is never wrong. His motivation is always pure. Save friends. He never has to battle with decisions he's already made or admit defeat. He just goes out and if he's wrong, get f-ed up and someone saves him. He powers up and comes back stronger without learning any lessons. He's literally just Gerard the Miracle. He can't die and keeps getting stronger.

I see what you mean because just bc your intentions are in the right place doesn’t mean you’ll always go about them the right way. But it does show his character flaws like when he lies to Tatski about Orihime, how his fear consumes him and allows his inner demon to take over, being over confident and losing sight of his goal which is why he gets his ass beat by Grimjow and Uqiuorra. It’s subtle but I agree though bc everyone goes through some sort of paradigm shift of opinion or outlook at some point and it could’ve added more to it and him training harder like say Naruto would help.

Character design was it's strongest point. Also the abilities were fantastic too. Too bad what was so amazing outside was so mediocre in the inside. It started so well then it went down... Bleach was often my favorite of the big 3 and I remember being saddened by the lack of respect the anime community gave it. As you said, it often felt like the black sheep. I do believe there are legitimate criticisms that can be levied at Kubo's writing. Certain scenes were inarguably paced poorly and just lacking execution overall. But I think it's amazing what he was able to accomplish. It's sad that a lot of the younger generation of anime fans barely know of its existence. I hope it gets a Kai tier reboot one day. There's so much to love here, I don't want it to be forgotten.

terrarion aqu After the 25th minute we literally describe each arc in great detail. It is basically a synopsis. It does switch into an analysis but it is telling when 40-50% of your video is a plot synopsis. Also @Otto A few of his analytical points are off base near the start and end and I don’t think this analysis does a perfect job of explaining that. The thesis is basically just a bias defense and ‘reminding us’ the plot to recontextualize it hopefully. Sometimes that analysis is correct, other times i disagree. I could be biased, after all as a writer i tend to not borrow from Kubo’s themes and worldbuilding and especially not his characterization. I am sort of ‘in between’ Kubo and Oda’s style where I prefer strong mental anguish only peppered through ‘fun’ and ‘creative’ action scenes. ...Even though i am a writer, not a mangaka, I do think i have some contentions with Bleach that I just cant call it amazing compared to other stuff. Not that...any of that matters. It is still a good video lmao otherwise i wouldnt have watched it. I would say the same for Bleach in that regard, it is a ‘good’ series i watched that i heavy personal criticisms with. I cant avoid that.

Some of my favorite details in Bleach: 1. Matsumotos zanpakuto turns to ash while Gins turns to dust (get it ashes to ashes, dust to dust) 2. Aizen and Urahara represent the Übermensch and Last Man respectively, from Nietzsche's philosophy (with the Soul King being a very literal interpretation of God is Dead), 3. Each member of the Schutzstaffel represents a different era of warfare, Pernida ancient shamanism, Gerard Valkyrie medieval melee combat, Lille Baron modern firearms and Askin Nakk Le Varr chemical weapons of mass destruction

I never thought of watching Bleach so i asked my friend about, it how is Bleach and whether i should watch it or not and he was like "Don't watch Bleach, it sucks" and i was like " Okay, i'm going to watch Bleach" and thank god i did. After finishing Bleach i asked him why he doesn't like Bleach and he said he saw a review and it got bad reviews. I was like you're not watching it because of one person's opinion? I never saw that video so i don't what the reviewer said about Bleach. I tried to convince my friend into watching Bleach but it was of no use. His mind is set now due to that. That poor soul. But i know one thing or sure after watching this video my respect has gone way up for Bleach. And I also respect the creator of this video for making me like Bleach even more. People do not realise how much work a manga artist does. Working 7 days with very little sleep no holiday, day in day out for years. These critics could not survive a week of what these artists go through sometimes risking their own lives to get the content out. Major health problems ect.. people criticize but within reason. Terrific video -- I agree that this series is vastly underrated (albeit I do believe there were structural flaws in the storytelling that hobbled the Arrancar arc and to some extent sabotaged the Blood War). When people complain that Ichigo doesn't have an arc or that Bleach doesn't have a theme, I am always nonplussed because I think there is a very clear through-line: Bleach is about the rigid dogmas we create to make sense of life's miseries and Ichigo represents humanism. He doesn't have a stake in the structures or beliefs that the Shinigami or Arrancar or Quincy fight over, because his belief is that defending a single life is worth dying for and that's enough. He even searches out the feelings of those he is dueling -- his blade is literally empathetic. The Hollows are the traumas of the world that are born out of despair and cause despair while the Shinigami are the religious order that provide order to the chaos -- they're like a Vatican that rules capriciously and often cruelly, but out of a desire to make some sense of a chaotic existence. Aizen is Lucifer -- an angel who decides he could rule better than God. He recruits demons for his cause and is eventually trapped in a subterranean prison. Ginjo is Job, but he cracked under the many trials that the divine threw him. Yhwach is a twisted Messiah -- an evil Jesus, if you will -- a son/incarnation of God who recruits his followers through granting them miracles with an ultimate goal of delivering the world to heaven, by force in this case. All of these systems and villains are fighting over realizing their vision for how the afterlife should be structured or because they cannot reconcile their frustration when the system they were raised to follow doesn't provide answers to the tribulations life throws them -- Ichigo is the humanist cure. Frankly, I think that Kaien Shiba's lecture to Rukia about the 'heart' existing between the space between two people is the single most important scene in Bleach. The series' entire worldview and theme is right there. It's a genuinely moving and uniquely wise sentiment, especially in an action series. That's a very compelling through-line. I don't think Bleach ultimately followed through on elucidating this theme, ultimately collapsing under the weight of too many characters and unexplained lore in the final arc, but major props to Kubo for bringing such a rich subtext to a shonen story.

I think the video's author mounts a terrific counterargument to your notes, but I personally do believe that while Ichigo has a thematic arc, he is frustratingly stilted in his characterization. What I mean is that while he is a suitable anchor for all the series' themes, the story loses sight of what makes him compelling. I think the key to him is that he is a big brother, but unfortunately the series sidelines his sisters as footnotes. I think that was a mistake -- those characters are crucial to who he is. A protective big brother is relatable -- someone who has a pathological obsession with protecting in general is a bit of a cipher. I also think Kubo missed a great opportunity for Ichigo to become an active character in the Lost Agent arc. In my opinion, Ginjo ought to have been more sympathetic and his gripes against Soul Society laid out -- and I think Ichigo should have joined forces with him. He establishes independence from Soul Society -- which would make it feel all the more interesting and/or moving when he decides to come to their aid in the final arc. Kubo's refusal to sex him up was also a mistake -- that conflicted emo boy would most definitely be actively attracted to Orihime's sunniness while confused by his chemistry with Rukia. Bleach in general could have used a big dose of romance -- a lot of these characters feel incomplete because that crucial component of existence is glaringly absent. But that's just my two cents -- I think Bleach is a beautiful sprawl of cool ideas that would have benefitted from Kubo having a story partner who would simply help him keep the story tighter. Instead, it ballooned to the point that its scope became untenable. But I think the subtext I suggested in the previous post still stands -- the Monday morning quarterback in me just wishes that those themes were elucidated more in the completed story.

Those are two very detail oriented series despite the fact that they are action, testosterone-fuel. Bleach needed to take time to flesh out more of the important ideas and characters and really establish the thematic through-line you mentioned because despite me not really thinking about Bleach that deeply, I feel like it could have been a deeper, more thought provoking series compared to most Shounen Jump manga that aim to to be emotionally resonant. I think the issue is that Bleach was more of a FMA type of story that found itself in a market full of Gokus and never really got to grow into it's own pocket and was confined to the contemporary way of Shounen storytelling.

I choose to ignore anything after Ichigo gets his powers back at the end of the anime. cause that was an ending, Ichigo remained true to himself in spite of everything and his friends stood by him and came back to aid him in the end, the entire high command of the soul society coming together to return his powers so they could repay him for all he did and all he sacrificed for the world was a good ending!

I feel like I can safely say it here; I love Bleach. 1. I really like Ichigo as a character. The reason Ichigo is sold sort as a protagonist might be, because he really keeps all the bad emotions buried within himself. His inner world cries when he doesn’t. The thing holding himself back the most is himself = Hollow/Zangetsu and is what he also fears the most. He’s afraid to express raw emotion which steams from his childhood. The guilt of what happened to his mother. It’s a story how he learns to use those emotions to protect the one’s he loves, and have those who he protected help him in return. 2. My favorite parts of the Bleach series is the beginning (the monster of the week) and the fullbring arc. In my opinion fullbring arc has the most powerful scene, in which Ichigo walks on Tsukishima having literally stolen all of his friends. Up until now Ichigo has always saved those who have wanted help. First Rukia and then slightly reluctant Orihime. But in fullbring arc, none of his friends want help, and because of Tsukishima, they think he’s the one whose in wrong. His worst fear. It’s so twisted and I love the despair and the feeling of betrayal, and how it just gets worse up until Rukia shows up. My favorite character breakdown moment. 3. I love Kubo’s art. The way he evolves funnily enough mirrors how the characters have grown. First volumes have rough outlines and sharp edges for the younger characters, and later more smooth soft lines for the older. He also draws hands real good. 4. Anime OST is dope. 5. All in all, I have always been fascinated by death and it drew me to this series back in my teens. Gotta go read those 74 volumes of Bleach again from my bookshelf.

You could spin Naruto motivation being a lack of both his parents and more a grandfatherly figure with hiruzen. One piece has a trifecta of motivation against a grandfather, a father like figure, but also a key aspect of brotherhood. Patriarchal lines are certainly common, though really depends on how you view things, alot of shonen also have a mother or aunt that while not a sole motivator are usually a grounding factor, Togashi works, Inuyasha, and Fullmetal alchemist as a few examples.

Don't get me wrong, I love Naruto and One Piece: I love their main characters, I have favorited and hated characters from both of them; I really, seriously love all the Big Three. But, if someone asked me which anime that has the most relatable main (and side) characters for me, then I will choose Bleach without a doubt. In my teenage days, even when I did not have any power what so ever, I can always symphatize with Ichigo more than either Naruto or Luffy. Bleach has help me with my self-esteem and all my other problems, and thus I seriously am pissed with how people try to take it down with their ridiculous comments.

It now belongs to my top 10 and I've read an unhealthy amount of series, Tite Kubo is one of my favourite mangaka, I never thought I would like a series like Bleach so much in the year 2020. I absolutely have my problems with the final arc for the most part, big problems, but I still see Bleach as what it is: a flawed masterpiece, a passionate series full of heart and a beautiful message of hope and humanity. I used to love it, but the story development is so lacky. The fights animation is very good, but in every game i feel like i need to watch some villain face while their hand brush their hair and try to act cool. Billy Kotsos I’d never say Ichigo isn’t relatable, but he’s less engaging to me. Despite Naruto and Luffy having flat progression, they’re charming and engaging and it’s about how they interact with the world around them and how the world reacts to their set in stone ways. @@TheShockVox I have read Naruto, I haven't read One piece, and to put things in context these are both shonen manga published in shonen jump that target early to late teens. Looking at this from a serious grown up perspective, Naruto was brought up as an assassin after a world war, all these kinds are brought up as killers. This is something of course that is never addressed, indeed they have missions where they save cats. Thats fine this is shonen after all, but the dissonance is strong with this one. If the manga were more realistic , everyone would be closer to Danzo in terms of character. If you read chapter one of bleach you will immediately understand how that 15 year old kid has grown up , as long as you are a person that has grown up relatively well of in a stble country, The ONLY difference between him and you before the journey begins is that he can see ghosts BUT, as he said that has never made him feel special.

IMHO the Fullbringer arc really showcased Ichigo's development. He was powerless and then betrayed to tears before rebounding and becoming stronger both physically and emotionally with the support of his friends. I also liked that the arc briefly showcased the duplicitous nature of Soul Society via the badge that would become jarringly apparent in the post Blood War novels, especially considering the sheer nightmare they had planned for Ichigo. And that's perhaps Ichigo's top flaw, don't question and charge right in to save an entity that ultimately only cares about control and maintaining a fake status quo. Still, the fact that he bends the rules to do what's right is a glimmer of light in the dark Bleach universe.

I never understood why the Fullbringer Arc was so hated. It served it's purpose in the story pretty clearly. Ichigo is depressed that he can't do the one thing he wants to, protect those around him, so he finally gets the chance to do that, only to be betrayed, but brought back to his prime through the changes he made to the Soul Society. If Ichigo had never made those substantial changes in Soul Society, they wouldn't have returned the favor. All comes full circle.

Yes he was an antithesis to Luffy and Naruto, who both, even before the later crazy stuff happened, had pretty outlandish lives. Luffy had the ability to stretch and his whole childhood with Ace and Sabo; Naruto, while alone, was a prankster and delinquent. Ichigo in comparison had the ability to see ghosts, which he, at first, wanted to get rid of, but learned to accept it and live with it, plus his goal is very pacifist, protecting his family and friends and leading a peaceful life without danger.

Every character in every story needs a goal and a motivation to want to achieve it. Having strong goals & motivation is the backbone of storytelling. Otherwise theres no reason for the character to do anything they're doing in the story. Thats why flimsy or weak goals don't work in long running narratives. It becomes harder and harder to justify why the character is taking part in the plot without a strong motivation to do so. Ichigo definitely had strong motivation. But as the series went on that became unclear to the readers in the midst of all the crazy battles with the supernatural.

It should be first, want to be hokage, then want to defend hometown, then bring his best friend, then saved his friends from what the red clouds design, then saved his hometown again before a long cashgrabs. And that is Naruto arc without mentioning sasuke, kakashi and jaraiya who has different arcs and character motivations and developments.

Bleach was my very first anime. I was about 7-8 years old and my dad had the series in our USB. He played it on TV and I got really engrossed in it. Seeing how invested I was, my dad proceeded to download the rest of the series for me. I was 16 when Bleach manga ended- around the same time I decided to pick up the series again after finishing it years ago through the anime. There, I found my love for the series again, remembering how much the story meant to me as a child. I was so excited for the final chapter that I even had the date marked so I could read it once it’s released. I’m 20 now and the anime adaptation of Thousand Year Blood War arc had just released on Netflix. Watching the five episodes currently available made me fall for Bleach all over again. It truly amazes me how much I adore this series that shaped my childhood. No matter how much people hate Bleach, the series will always hold a special place in my heart. It was a series I grew up with, and it was the series that made me fall in love with anime to begin with. Thank you so much for this video. It made me appreciate the series more seeing other’s passionate discussion and explanation about it. Your Bleach videos always put a smile to my face, seeing things that I would never have noticed as a young kid.

Been a while since I rewatched the early episodes of Bleach but Rukia told Ichigo at one point he had to take the leap and commit to being a substitute shinigami and he had a quote like "All my life I have wanted to protect people and now that I have the strength I will never be satisfied with only protecting the people I can hold in my arms. I will protect as many people as I can." That was Kubo laying out the person Ichigo is. EDIT: Quote is a little off but the idea is the same and it was to Uryu

The scene where Ichigo lost his fullbringer powers will always be one of my favorite scenes in all of anime. He willingly gave up his powers defeating Aizen thinking that his friends would be safe afterwards, but Tsukishima and Ginjo created a plan that injured his friends and turned them against him while giving him some power to start protecting them again only for them to rip it away at the most critical moment. The only way I would of seen it being done better is if they had Ichigo still try to attack Ginjo with just punches and kicks before he broke down and then him breaking like that actually sparked back his shinigami powers (not fully, just a small flicker) and that would have been when Rukia gave him the sword full of reiatsu as it would pull that spark into raging fire. I enjoyed the fullbringer arc the entire way through and always thought the people who didn't enjoy it didn't understand Ichigo as a character. Although, I always wondered why the anime never outright mentioned that Orohime was a fullbringer.

I agree with you. That scene was so heart wrenching and satisfying as it went on. I had to download it, lol. I feel like the people that don't like the fullbringer arc are the same people that think Ichigo has no motivation or that he is boring. I mean his breakdown was so horrible to watch, not know whether or not you're going crazy, finding out the people you trusted betrayed you and turned everyone against you, losing the power to protect them when you worked so hard to get them back. I mean, he does everything to protect the ones he loves. Feeling like your whole relationship is lost or a lie would be devastating, but he still tried to fight without powers while struggling to get up. And wow, it was great seeing the sky torn apart and Ginjo getting his ass kicked. I like the suggestions you gave too.

I never watched bleach,and while I attempted to read it I just didn't, but even I knew what Ichigo's motivation was from the very beginning, and from the gossip and spoilers of other people I always knew that Tite stuck to it, he wants to protect his family, and then his friends. Bleach was, for me, baby’s first anime. I rewatched it recently and I must say that it’s still an amazing tale of hope, determination, and resolve through a supernatural world. To this day it is the only long running anime/manga besides Berserk that I actually care to view more than once. Ichigo, is to me, the perfect example of a hero in anime. As in someone doing the right thing simply because it’s right, even to the extent of sparing and rescuing his enemies and hating himself when a battle results in the death of someone he could’ve saved regardless of which side their on. Even showing sympathy to Aizen after defeating him. He doesn’t chase after revenge, he doesn’t give in to excessive violence, and refuses to lose not out of pride, but because he needs to win to protect people.

Amazing video was worth the wait! There are few foreshadowing kubo did too! Quincy zangetsu used blut vein against kenpachi! Mugetsu looks similar to yhwach! Ichigo aura with his final confrontation with byakuya looks like mugetsu aura! Ichigo form which ginjo took! Personally, Ichigo was my favorite character over Naruto amd Luffy. He always felt more grounded. Naruto didn't get interesting to me until he was a more mature teenager and knew what sadness was. All in all, both characters ended up pretty well rounded, but I loved how Ichigo's was hinted at from the beginning. I just wish I got to see Ichigo with a black bow. Damn that woulda been cool

Look I love Ichigo and he get's way too much hate but I'm tired of fans of just one of these feeling the need to put down the other two in order to praise the one they love. What your doing is exactly what Super Eyepatch wolf did. I enjoy all three of them and while I do think One Piece is the better of the three for alot of reasons that does'nt take away from the strengths of Naruto or Bleach. All three are in my top ten favorite anime for a damn reason. If you take a look around the world especially lately it's just full of endless cynicsism and negativity, things like optimisim and positivy are suddenly childish things and you can only be a true adult by becoming a misreable husk. One Piece stands out to me the most because it gives a giant middle finger to that mentaility, Luffy is a happy and energitic person and nothing anyone does can ever change that about him even when he hits a low point he'll see the brighter side and push through it to get stronger. He's experienced tragedy and opression but he chooses to move forward and not be burdened by his past. I can analyze why I love Naruto and Ichigo too but Luffy is the type of protagonist I enjoy the most. The one who's not afraid to be silly or goofy but can still be serious and badass when the situation calls for it. It's not a crime for a protagnist to be happy and smiling and I hate that people still think that way.

Ichigo was meant to be very human, he's supposed to be relatable to the reader/watcher. He's part of a supernatural universe, in which, at first glance, seems very devoid of humanity, in fact, when Renji first appears, he judges Rukia for being too "human-like" after spending some time in the Human World. Ichigo's goals and motivations were very ideological which is also another aspect which we as humans tend to heavily pursue.

Sometimes, a character don't need any desire just to make his own story, it's just like life, its unpredictable, sometimes, in life you dont need a desire to be happy, just wanted to do what comes to mind. Ichigo's character is really rare, he's the only one who has no desire in shonen animes. All he wanted to do is to do his job as a soul reaper, protect humans, souls, even soul reapers, that's what he desires, thats his job.

The fact of the matter is that a main character that has plot happen to them tend to be less compelling as the plot has to find some way to rope them in. I dont think its impossible and most characters start that way until the call to action. Rescue Rukia was a compelling call to action and gave our MC a goal as he needed to get stronger to save her. That arc has always been highly regarded. The anime screwed up with their filler but the arrancar arc also drags ichigo back in with rescue orihime, which is less compelling the second time it's the call to action.

The manga is definitely better now that it's finished, but it had its own issues when it was still running. Kubo's chapters tend to use a lot of space for cool character shots and reactions and stuff, usually don't have a lot of dialogue, and often don't progress things very far. A new chapter would come out, it would take maybe a minute or two to read, and then you had to wait a week for the next one. With the whole thing finished, the pacing isn't nearly as much of an issue, but it was fucking torture when it was running.

The anime has some things going for it, but personally I feel only up to Aizen's betray it is really good. Then you can skip to the Arrancar arc which only has it being worth watching the first Grimmjow Fight till the end. I think the censorship stuff changed at that point and the animation style settles to digital. Fights look rarely impressive and the characters lifeless. The worst part is that some of the fights look exactly the same as Ichigo vs. Ulquorra during their second fight looks very similar at some points to freaking Findor vs Hisagi.

Hey! You're using Ryan's animation for the Thousand Year Blood War Arc! Man of culture, I see! In a world where Fairy Tail exists, I never understood why it was cool to hate on Bleach. The final arc did leave me feeling unsatisfied in some parts, don't get me wrong. really maybe i got my time confused cause i just remember when the fullbring arc was out in the manga it was bad but it was manga so most people tolerated it especially b/c bleach chapter takes seconds to read. then when it was animated and an even bigger portion of bleach fans saw it, it was horrendous. from what it was and i mean people actively involved with the series (i'm talking personal experience) they all left when they saw that arc and didn't return. only came back because it was ending and it was apart of their childhood. and when they did return everything was criticism like "its not the same" or "the old bleach was better". but i've been with the series since 06/07 so its been along time i probably just got the years mixed up.

I was introduced to the world of Bleach through the anime back in 2005. I instantly loved it: A shounen about a boy not having a selfish desire, a cast with so well written characters, and the visuals and music. Could listen the ost for days. Could rewatch the show and start over just because. At the time I was a high schooler with little access to internet, so in order to watch anime I had to buy pirate DVDs from those who had. Unfortunately I couldn't get past the Arrancar arc as the many fillers sapped my will to keep watching. Flash forward to 2019 and I heard about the bad reputation one of my all time favorite animes and I couldn't believe why was that. Like you I fell for their claims and thought to be true, and still being burned out from the anime I couldn't make myself read the manga from start. bruh Aizen is op just cause, literally trolls his enemies coz they are so weak, his enemies don't even try fighting at full strengh(half of them use their shikai forms), Aizen doesn't kill any of them just cause. = Bullshit Madara tries to beat Kages into submission and while still toying with them he actually pays attention, his strength is justified, he keeps showing off his abilities instead of just slashing his sword boringly, his enemies are trying their best and we know why they survive. = dunno if ePiC but not def not bullshit

@@Turahk well in defense of the captains half of them couldn't use there bankai due to it affects like shinji and Shunsui and if I'm remembering correctly you can't use bankai if your wounds are to severe or if you use up your reiatsu plus half of the shnigami where already downed anyways and azien meh just probably wanted to flex on em hell even gin was monologueing about how no matter what you do or what you plan your fucked either way

Thanks you two... I always thought this argument "Ruffy wants to become pirate king and Naruto Ninjaking, so Bleach should become Shinigami-King!" is so empty. Like people WANT it to be exactly like every other series. There ared flaws indeed, but not wanting to become the strongest something-kinfg isn´t one.

I legit have a new respect of Bleach, I had fallen into some minor misconceptions and I ended up having a bit of my own misconceptions. I still have my own opinion on things that I feel like were not done well in the series, but I think I can honestly recommend Bleach as a watchable series again. Thank you for your documentary.

Real talk though. I've been desperately struggling to find another anime/manga series that gave me the same feelings as Bleach when I first watched/read through it. Nothing so far could recapture that magic. It really was a unique experience.

Ikr.. before this i was addicted to naruto .. but as i’m growing up.. naruto has never come to the end and no longer my interest.. then i found Bleach.. and until now i am still love this anime! I even collecting bleach dvd. Only by using my pocket money throughout my middle school.. Bleach ost was dope!!

Might not help, but here's a list of anime that made me feel the same as BLEACH : Shaman king, D.Gray-man, Inuyasha, Pandora Hearts, Soul Eater, Yu Yu Hakusho, HunterxHunter 1999, Saint Seiya the lost canvas and Tokyo Ghoul (the manga, mostly). Black Butler to some extent too but it's mostly meh. What's the common point between them? Beats me, guess I felt the same "soul" from them, if any of them fits what you were looking for then glad I helped

@@animeworld5847 I saw/read all of them. Great shows! Love them all! YYH might be my favourite anime of all time in fact. Sadly Bleach, while not perfect and not even my favourite had something I just can't describe. You know like in the beginning I was enjoying the show really much and then once the Soul Society arc began everything just... clicked. The music, the fights, the setting, the aesthetic. And I could really identify myself with Ichigo's mindset throughout the series. Probably had to do with the age I was watching it. I was pretty young then, and my first real exposure to "when shit gets real" in shounen anime. The Chimera Ant arc in HxH and the Dark Tournament Saga in YYH were the things that came closest to it. When I felt like I went back in time a bit.
