It's hard to fully express in words how impressive I think Kubo is as a story-teller. The way he ascribes a backstory to every element in his story, not just the characters, but each detail of their designs, makes it palpable when you witness the story that they're not just background, even if the story is about Ichigo. It makes me feel these are actually people with their own stories, and that at any moment, even hundreds of episodes in, we only know a fraction of what this world is about. I have to wonder if any other author can accomplish this to the same degree of competence.

For 2, we've already seen that Hollows are sent to Soul Society if the human they were before was a decent person, while horrible people, like serial killers, are sent to Hell once they're purified from their Hollow forms. Also all beings who are sufficiently powerful, like Captains, Espadas, and probably Sternritters are automatically sent to Hell because their spiritual energy can't be recycled for reincarnation and leaving it there will be harmful

Kubo's comment about the Hell arc has massively been misunderstood by some fans. He said he will draw more when he is stopped being asked about it. This stems from the pressure he had to draw while serialised and not liking drawing under pressure. He doesn't want to be asked about it, or forced to do it like when he was serialised. Now he DID NOT say that we cannot talk about it amongst ourselves. Some really dense fans seem to think any mention of the Hell arc is negative. Shueisha want to see there is fan demand, I'm sure Kubo does too. If we all stopped talking about it do you really think they would entertain more content from Kubo, if there is no interest? Fan demand is essential. Speculate talk amongst yourselves, talk about it with each other. But DON'T pester Kubo personally with fan mail or in interviews. That is what he meant.

Here's my crazy prediction for the final villain of bleach. Its Szayelaporro. In his pursuit of becoming the perfect being , he figured out that what is closest to godhood is being of all bleach sub-races (Quincy , Arrancar , Shinigami , Human . Hollow , Fullbringer etc). His intention will be to fuse with Ichigo, who is all of the above, to reach that goal. Hell will be his stepping stone to invite Ichigo and the Shinigami in. We have a 3 major scientists group and an underdog , Mayuri , Aizen and the always 1 step ahead Kisuke. Then all of the sudden , the guy that nobody paid huge attention to, the underdog scientist who was revived as a memory on Nemu's death , coming back given priority in the hell arc teasers and generally Kubo's choice to give him a huge back story with the Cien clone (which in summary shows, he split his soul, who became his brother Yylfordt Granz , tossing away his physical strength , weakening himself in the process losing ranks as an espada, because it was holding him back from reaching his goals as a scientist), make me think that way.

Rukia's first name is written in Katakana instead of the calligraphic Kanji. It appears to be the only name where Katakana (a Japanese alphabet used for borrowed/foreign words) is utilized. I like the vibes of this comment, but even if Ukitake didn't have his contract with Mimihagi, he still would have gone to Hell because that's where shinigami with Captain-class reiatsu get sent. When a shinigami dies their reishi dispurses and is absorbed into Soul Society's atmosphere. However the reishi of a Captain-class shinigami is just too dense to be reabsorbed into the atmosphere. So basically Unohana, Yamamoto, and every other previous captain in the history of SS are in Hell currently within the narrative.

Backstories aren't enough though. We also need to see the uh, future stories. But that's one of Bleach's biggest problems. You get the backstory (in endless succession), it makes you want to see more of the character, see them develop and grow, yet for most of them that's it, there is no more. Even when the narrative is just begging for it. And it's always disappointing. So hopefully there's more with Unohana and others in the hell arc than just a stupid flashback.
