After a 2.5 hrs in the air, this re-activated 45 year old airplane completes it's first flight after a long storage period in the KMHV boneyard. I shot this from the jumpseat.

Growing up I flew as a passenger in so many DC-8s I can remember the smell of the cabin while watching this. I used to love this model so much. In turbulent air the wings would flap and the engines would swing from side to side, while the ride stayed nice and smooth inside.

The term heavy is used during radio transmissions between air traffic control and any aircraft which has been assigned a maximum takeoff weight (MTOW) rating of 136 tonnes (300,000 lb) or more. ... Such "heavy"aircraft over 136 t create wake turbulence from the wings.

The term now for the A-380 is: "Super" but I did not look it up. I think the MGTW of the A-380 is approx. 1.2 million pounds. I may be off on that. The "wake" of wake turbulence. I've read also because of the aerodynamics of the B-757 it produces greater wake turbulence than other aircraft for its size and weight. My friend flew 757's for UNITED and says it's like a sports car. He just bid for the B-777.
