DC SUPER HEROES Drop of Doom VR opens June 21

For a limited time, experience the new DC SUPER HEROES Drop of Doom VR. Don special VR headsets to view the action as SUPERMAN and WONDER WOMAN battle their nemesis, LEX LUTHOR, while plunging 200 feet.
Buckle into floorless seats and strap on VR headsets and get immersed into a 360-degree virtual world where you will be unwittingly invited by DC Super-Villain, Lex Luthor, to test the newest LexCorp levitation technology.
Among the highlights of this intense, interactive storyline:
• Lex Luthor levitates riders with his anti-gravity ray gun and they begin to float upward, rising high above the skyscrapers;
• Wonder Woman and Superman dash to the rescue and an epic battle ensues high in the air over Metropolis;
• Wonder Woman clashes with an army of flying LexBots while Superman is in fierce combat with Lex Luthor; and
• High in the sky, the battle spins out of control and riders fall a thousand feet-straight down, to the city streets far, far below.
Riders must be at least 48” tall to ride DC SUPER HEROES Drop of Doom VR, and at least 13 years old to experience VR.

I got to try this out yesterday. The park was at what I would call low to medium attendance. I waited 15 min in line and a couple more minutes for everyone to put on the vr before the ride started. Normally I wait about 5 min for this ride during normal operations at low to medium attendance. Lots of people around me including myself have not done the vr on the giant drop before so there was a lot of excitement waiting in line and easy to talk with others. The wait seemed to be not that bad because of this. They also had a designated car for non vr riders and they would call down the line for non vr riders if it wasn't full. So if you didn't want the vr experience your wait was shorter. So good job to six flags for catering to the people that don't want the vr experience. Now as far as the vr experience goes. I enjoyed it and will do it again before they remove it. The headset for me was perfectly in sync with the ride. I am glad they offer this experience. And I enjoyed it. But to be perfectly honest, it did seem to take away from the rides original experience. But it adds it's own unique experience. I'm glad its only for a limited time because I actually enjoy the ride better without the vr. But like I said I'm glad I got to experience it this way too. And who knows I might even be able to get my wife to ride it now. Lol

Well, I did get my wife on it, and she liked it. I went on it 3 times while it was available and every time it was perfectly in sync. 5 other people in my group also rode it with no issues.

I personally love this new feature coming out, and if you don't like it then just don't ride. Six flags job is to try something new and see how it does. Also if the line bothers you so much and your gonna complain just buy a flash pass. @Six Flags Great America keep up the good work.

Xandria Pena They've tried it before and no one liked it. They have no reason to do it again. People would just like to ride the door tower as it is. Also, not everyone wants to buy an 100 Dollar flash pass for a group of 3 or 4!

Your right they did I was not aware of it, but new people come in all the time so instead of being close minded and just think what past people thought they want to see what the new comers will enjoy. And no it is not just $100 for a group of 2 or more it all depends in the package you get. And if no one wants to spend money on it then stop complaining cause you always have that opportunity to make it fastsr.

Xandria Pena Okay here's the thing. By putting vr on this ride, you're making so some people like it and some people don't. It increases the lines by 25% which is a no no in a park that gets this kind of attendance. The VR headsets are often not in sync causing a very uncomfortable experience. And the VR isn't even that good since it's six flags. VR may look cool to the GP, but it's a terrible business decision!

National Coaster News every time I ride the giant drop, I waited 5 min or less. So an extra 1 min and 15 sec isn't going to be that bad. I can't wait to try it out. Yeah I enjoy the giant drop the way it is but I also like trying new things too. It's not like its going to be a permanent thing. Plus I hope people like you that talk negative about everything don't ride it so the line will be even shorter.
