Jesus Freak was the first Christian music album (of any genre) that I was actually not embarrassed to share with my friends. I actually got a few to go with me to see DC Talk in concert at the UI Assembly Hall (Champaign, IL) in 1996, where a seat in the 9th row cost all of eighteen bucks. How times have changed. It was a great show, BTW :)

Michael has such an amazing voice, he still sounds amazing now. It would be so cool to be able to buy the unreleased/B sides of this record. I wonder if they knew the impact when writing and recording this album would have 25 years later. I remember having the cassette as a kid, and it's on my iphone now.

The best dc talk / those tunes! Those voices/ how it all was put together/the band! I bought this cd and audio adrenaline bloom for every persons birthday for years because they were and still are special! Was at one of your concerts at a billy grahm evening once! The miracle of the alter call ,where almost all of the people ,tens of thousands came down for prayer, the peace and love that called and flowed through the stadium created a revered silence that I marveled at and still find astounding remembering that night as 1000’s of people were moving and gathering without making a sound!

Between you and me is my favorite song by dc talk, and a couple years ago they had the instrumental version of the song on KZbin, but it got removed.

Lyrical content is sooo good 💕 so rather be singing dc's lyrics than the songs i used to have running around my head lol loved the music of bands i liked but their lyrical content wasn't very edifying now if they done all instrumental i would buy that lol 😂

Love this glimpse into the songwriting process. Really cool to see how the song progressed. I’ve often wondered if they started with the “gotee remix version” of this song, which is very much in the rap vein similar to Free At Last songs and then progressed to the full on rock version. Either way this is a real cool look into the song writing process of one of the CCMs biggest anthems...and a cool version in its own right.

It would make perfect sense too . The song Jesus Freak basically follows the blueprint of the song Smells Like Teen Spirit . Both songs alternate from soft and quiet to loud and hard and that dichotomy, at least to me, is what make the songs so appealing to the ear. dc Talk went a step further and added the rap element to the song which can be one of the earliest examples of integrating rap into alternative music. Great tune and it was highly Influential to me. dc talk wasn’t so much a “Christian band” but more so a great rock band who’s members happened to be Christian.
